I see that you changed your lighting fixture several times. It looks like you started with several different LED fixtures, but ended up sticking with T5.

Can you tell us about that? What happened, and why did you decide to change?

I have been through all kind of LED pictures, but dont get the results i want. I have tried Orphek, Ecotech, AI, Maxspect you name it, but non of those LED fictures can compare to the nice color and light from a good t-5 fixture. The LED is only for some color adjustment and shimmer, but the T-5 is for Growth.
Got much better growth after changing the fixture! :)

Ahhh my friend 70D great camera I have an 80D now.

Yes! All the Canon camera is real good. 80D have some nice new futures. You should try out the 24-70 lens. Its absolutely perfect to shoot tank pictures whit! :)

Cool. I am building a new Tank (upgrading from 65 to 110).
My currently lighting is MH(250Wx2) and 2 T5.
Thinking of keeping the MH but adding 2 more T5's (at least till my MH bulb burn out)
But like everyone thinking maybe moving away from MH when bulbs end.
There is a store here selling the Orphek Atlantic V4 (I was going to trial one when tank is ready, since store has a Loaner)
What did you think of it (compared to other LEDs)?
I know you decided on T5, but would the Orphek with some T5's be an option (T5's as Filler).
To save me time-wasting trying the light (what was good? What was Bad?). I personally hate Shimmer and DiscoBall Effect (did it have either of those issues)
Especially with SPS (Since you push so much circulation-Surface) that Shimmer can get out of control.
I have a Kessil on another Tank, and when it turn on (mostly) evening, I turn off Surface Agitation to enjoy the Kessil deep blue colors (AND SHIMMER is water is moving).

BTW Ver nice sump/cabinet setup (Very Tidy).

Thanks, Wally! :)

Light is very hard thing to recommend. Depends on what you have in your tank. I personaly think all the premium light fixtures is good, but as you maby know you got the shading on SPS.

I have tryed sevral fixtures and the best one is actually the Orphek fixture beside the Ecotech Radion G4, but you will always get the "shimmer" effect.

But the best fixture i had is the ATI Hybrid Fixture. Its totaly awsome, and the SPS love the power that the light give, and you can adjust the color as you like it an wash out the shimmer effect whit the T5 combo.

But i think MH is a good choice too! :)

Thanks. I may keep my MH (Short term), and just add more T5's. I do have a led strip for Blues and Actinic look (kind of like a hybrid of all lights)
Because my tank is behind a wall I don't need a shiny nice looking ATI Hybrid "FIXTURE". Just a few ballasts and hanging T5's with reflectors.
But if you say the Orphek is that good, then I'll give it a try. I can always return it, which you normally can't when buying a light.
One Orphek with a few T5's will be enough for my tank.
But it would take 2-3 Radion G4's,and that get's pricey.

Sounds like a good choice! Orphek is a awsome fixture and i think it will be awsome beside some T5 bulbs! :)

After a week whit the new refugium setup and the AI Prime light, i noticed a much higher and stable average Ph value after i build this! So refugium is definitely worth the money and work!!

Love your tank.

What was your main reason to implement a refugium?

Just went through the same process as you, had the new glass panel siliconed in... with the result of getting it out because I made a error in the planning... now I’m going for a very big reactor for the chaeto

Cheers
Flo

Thanks, mr! :)

First of all i started whit Triton Other methods and a cheato reactor, but did not get so much nutrient removal that i belived, so i needed a larger refugium. Than i could start with Triton Method insted of other.

The second reason is to get a more stable and increased value. :)

Oh, thats not good. Hate when planning goes wrong. :(
