Long time lurker, first time poster here. I thought I would start logging my reefing journey. Had this tank for about 5 years- rebooted my tank this year.

Tank- 48x24x24 Reef Savvy
Lighting- 3x orphek compact V4 gen 2
Skimmer- Vertex 180 (i think?)
Flow- 2x MP40
Return: eheim 1262

I've made many mistakes in this hobby, including lack of quarantining, lack of testing, lack of maintenance. Reboot was for numerous issues including fish diseases, hitchhikers killing inverts, aiptasia, out of control algae, crappy sump, coral and fish death.

Restart included new rock (all dry), new sand, new plumbing, medicating all fish in separate system. Rock has been wet for about 9 months (4 in brute cans, 5 in tank).

Here are some photos

4 weeks ago with happy, disease free fish in new system:

Current fish stock:

1x powder blue tang
1x yellow tang
1x lyretail anthias
2x clownfish
2x chromis
1x melanarus wrasse
1x long nose hawkfish
1x midas blenny
1x starry blenny

Frags from popular, reputable vendor:

Now, fallow after catching ich from frags (fish in hospital tank with copper)

Sump shot:

Main concern at the moment is keeping the sps frags happy; feeding reef energy AB+, reef roids, dosing brightwell nitrate product daily. watching ammonia in my 40 breeder hospital tank.

Look forward to hearing comments!

The Rock Work looks very nice, just started a similar size tank, I'm jealous.

Thanks! I can't remember exact height, it is an inch or 2 higher than what BRS recommended. Yeah there is some spillage but not too bad. I have it on 'color and growth' setting, some channels get to 100% during the day.

Quick update- fallow struggles are real - acros losing color, and one RTN'd. At least a few are hanging in there. Algae galore. On a positive note, all 12 fish made it through copper treatment and doing great. . Only 2 more months to go!

On the fallow home stretch! Only 2 more weeks. Display looking really clean these days, seems to have coincided with a pod explosion- not a single tuft of algae, diatoms, or anything really. Corals hanging in there and slowly regaining some color.

Fish back in after fallow! So far, no signs of recurrent ich. My seemingly healthy midas blenny suddenly died without any explanation. Also looks like I'm going to lose a couple of frags but others doing OK. Upgraded my skimmer from Vertex 130 to an Elite RO 150 SSS - so much nicer!!

I picked up the same tank as you have and I was wondering how you feel about the overflow setup? I have the Ghost overflow that I can drill and install in place of the corner, but I am apprehensive about drilling the tank.
