Hello everyone, earlier today I noticed these marks on my clownfish. Im still fairly inexperienced in the hobby and google said these might be bite marks so I wanted to see if anyone might have any advice. He shares a 40 gallon tank with three sailfin mollys and a pajama cardinal. One molly is particularly aggressive and tests my clown about every few months or so but my clown never even bats an eye. I figured if anyone did fight my clown, it was this molly. If anyone has any advice please let me know!

plz dont mind the insane orange-ness of the video. I used orange light lenses for these :downcast-face-with-sweat:
and plz dont mind the green hair algae :grinning-face-with-sweat: im still getting the hang of things

to me, those look like internal lumps. I'm not an expert though. I'd also recommend you post a youtube link for the video, as direct uploads don't load properly on mobile devices which many members use the access the forums.

What all fish you got???

Also, doesn't look like it. In my semi aggresive, bite marks are circular if on the fish of the fins or chunks missing from fins. Or cuts if it's the tangs. Or poke from the foxface, who ironically is the most bullied fish in my tank.

When Karen(lightning maroon clownfish) bites the foxface, there is a circular mark as big as her mouth. She's a breeding clown, so it's even more aggressive than normal.

Don't have pic, but it is what it is. Life in a glass cage... maybe you can zoom in and look at the yellow tang and fox face...

Aggression doesn't always happen, but usually if im mucking about the tank and they are all trying to hide in the same spot...

I'm not sure what marks you are mentioning. Mollies are usually not capable of causing much/any real damage, but since you've seen it go after the clown, that might be it. I don't expect any issues from a cardinal at all.

dang right they are!!! Heres day 1 and now.
I tried moving them around cause KAREN (my lightning maroon clownfish) kept burying them during her workup to spawn. She blasted sand everywhere in the tank.so I moved them up, and they hated it. A lot of rearranging and a nems later, and she leaves them alone.

I see bumps and may be bacterial and/or may be skin reaction.

All in all the clownfish shares the tank with a pajama cardinal and three mollys.

Yeah I don't think any of them are attacking injuring your clown. I'd remove it into a qt tank and see what happens.

I test alk, nitrate, phoshates and TDS of my rodi water. I only use 0tds water, i keep my alk at about 9.6-9.8, nitrates at 40 and phosphates hang around .06 to .07ppm

tap is tested with an hanna in line tds meter. alk and phosphates I test with hanna checkers, nitrates i test with api kit.

edited to add I try to test every two weeks, give or take a day if life gets a bit busy!
As a suggestion, take a water sample to an LFS that does not use API kits and see what reading they come up with and to compare with yours

lfs results were similar. alk measured out to 9.9, phosphates to .07, nitrates to 56, salinity to 1.027 and calcium to 433 ppm. On a good note however my clown looks visibly better after a few days of feeding vitamin soaked food though!!
