It looks blue because of the T5 bulbs. Here are two close up shots, one under my T5s and one under my radions, you can see a huge difference in the color and it’s just a matter of changing the viewing spectrum

Its been a decade since I had had one of these, back when I had a PM it was under MH. Are the polyps on yours actually that green or is it the lighting? Mine were white, I am wanting to replace my PM and have been looking for the white Polyps.

The tanks and corals look amazing. Whatever your doing or not doing seems to be working.

Thanks man. It’s one of my favorite corals. The polyps were white, it just showed green under the spectrum.

@Russo757 any new updates? Hope all is going well for you in 2021!
Thanks man.

life has been busy. We had our first baby back in feb so the tank has been slow going. I currently have a 89 gallon deep blue tank plumbed into a 100 gallon baffled sump. Running 8 bulb ati w/reefbrites over it. My goal is to plumb in a 30 to it as a holding place for frags. I had some Dinos so I didn’t want to add the second tank until I got them under control. They are nasty things. I’ve been battling them for a little while now but I think it’s coming to an end.
I’ve got some sps in a holding system waiting to move over here plus a huge torch order waiting to be delivered once i give the green light. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some pics rolling in the next 30 days

So torches have different needs than SPS, at least if they are stressed. I've been doing some research and it seems that to promote membrane growth for torches you want three things.

1. Low Par - I have everything at the bottom of my tank in the sand bed and my lights raised. They are getting roughly 275 - 325 par. I've read that even less is better but that's the best i can do with my set up.
2. Lower nutrients (especially Po4) - I've been running very lean on Po4, fluctuating between .01-.04. No3 is around 16 or so. I always get scared running po4 that low because it can be an issue if you bottom out but it seems to be working. If it hits .01 I add a very very small amount of reef roids which give it a little boost.
3. Lower flow - I backed my gyre down from 40% to 10%.

I'm also feeding Barrier Reef labs LPS food 3x a week. The directions say to mix 1 part food with 2 parts tank water but I'm mixing it with 1 part food and 2 parts Aminos. Once i get it all mixed up I spot feed my torches. They close up for a bit but then open back up in about an hour or so. This stuff is pretty legit. I text my nutrients daily and it has not caused a spike in either Po4 or No3 like other foods have in the past.

I've only had the torches for a week now but I am seeing some improvement in membrane growth already. I'm hoping that after a month of this that the membrane will be substantially further down the stalks and I can begin to move this batch of torches to higher par and start to pull more colors. That being said, i have seen some color improvement even at the lower par.

Headed to Cali to visit the new 2GC retail shop this weekend. He has been posting a lot of amazing stuff on his IG lately so I'm hoping to land some nice SPS and LPS stuff while I'm there. Pics to follow post trip :)

Incredible collection!

I just bought a piece listed as "Matt V SOTCB". When I search Google, this thread is about the only place I see that name listed. Can you tell me anything about it?

Thanks man. It’s a nice piece but got it’s name as kind of a joke. It stands for S#^+ing On The Cherry Bomb.

So I just got back from 2GC and it was a blast. Lots of really nice stuff there and the new shop isn’t even fully stocked. My torch addiction is getting real. I got a few more variety of torches and I’m really looking forward to his dragon tamer and Rapunzel HG.

Buttttt once a stick head, always a stick head. So I’m happy to announce that I was able to land a few chunks off these two beauties, the 2GC Dragon Knight and 2GC El Guapo

Not gonna lie it was hard to capture these appropriately under his leds. They don’t have anything but blue and purple so there is a lot Of wash but believe me they are nice.

I’ll be doing the first release of these pieces for collectors in about a month. Stay tuned for some updated pics under my lights in the next few weeks
