I had no odors trying itjust a random question because I love this. But what about any odors? Is that not a concern at this phase?

Nice! Exactly what I was trying to do. I’d buy that but at $100, I’ll keep trying. LolSounds a lot like the Reefsicle ( https://smarterreefs.com/shop/ols/products/reefsicle-starter-pack ). Except it has an outer sleeve that you also freeze, which makes the food-containing ice cube in the middle last a lot longer.
I like this idea.
Try an insulated container, yeti? And drill a tiny hole in the bottom (find a rubber plug at your local hardware store that fits).
then you can dilute the food in more water (and freeze the whole cup+food) and it would very slowly drip out the bottom hole into the tank then put the plug back in and repeat? I know those cups can stay cold/hot all day just about..
Can you freeze the food and water together in the spice container instead of the ice cube trays? That way I think you would have a more solid freeze and a slower melt. You could freeze two or three at a time and pull them out as you need them.
