I would go small skimmer section and as big a fuge as possible.
and my common sense tells me I want my refugium after my skimmer, that is correct right? and my plan was to shrink the skimmer chamber down to the foot print of the skimmer which im using a simplicity240dc. You think might just be easier to get a sump kit off ebay and configure one out of a 40g or 55g breeder?? and sell this one to recoup some costs on the kit???

I like simple, left to right, drains are in corner flow blockers and the skimmer is in that section, fuge then dual returns, excuse the rusty light, the least of my problems at the moment! ;)

Ok so ya kinda what I had in mind at first essentially turning that first chamber into socks and skimmer allowing me to make the fuge huge lol. Like almost 10g huge in the current sump

So I’m configuring the sump and unfortunately the foot print of skimmer is 9x9 and well I can’t fit it in the first chamber with socks which leaves my fuge area a 10x14 and the return area 6x14x10”T is the area for the pump to draw water from sufficient enough?

so got the wood for my stand delivered today tomorrow the building of the stand starts and hopefully finishes in the next day or two. I went on and ordered good portion of the rest of the stuff needed gave in and ordered some colored pvc. my colors are going to be purple and white. I believe as far as equipment goes I just need to get my return pump and heater and all the equipment has been purchased I think. those who are following remind me if I forgot anything lol. which will leave more live rock scaping it and more live sand and I believe tank will be ready for water testing ill run a couple days to make sure there are no leaks then drain and fill her up. cant wait.

Well here’s the start of the stand I should have it wrapped tonight and starting on the shelves and doors tomorrow.
In the picture the front are the doors. I’m going to have the ends as shelves and a small electrical area. Just big enough for supplies and such. At least that is the plan.

Been a long couple days running here and there grabbing supplies and such trying to find best deals all while trying to complete the stand and such. Well stand is ready for putty and sanding then the doors can go on an yayabuddy time to paint may have this done by Tuesday. Which while watching the paint dry I’ll have time to install the overflow box and plug these bulkheads I’m not going to be using. As far as all the equipment needed to have the tank up and running well I believe I have everything but the return pump which I’ll be ordering today. I have 2 vipars coming sometime next week found a slammin deal on a AI hydra 26hd paid 160 for it last night. So my setup for the lights will be the vipars on the ends and the hydra in the middle. I’m thinking of hanging them from the ceiling but don’t want to have the nastiness of braided cable so I’m thinking a strong fishing line to hang down and attach the pvc to that and then the light can be put on the pvc. Do you guys think that would hold?

I also did this thing and bought 6 beginner coral for my biocube lol. I’ve managed to not kill any of em in the 2 days I’ve had them now.

Well 1 step closer just a bit of patching and sanding left. Then prefab up the doors and it’s ready to paint going a glass black on the outside and a white color marine paint on the inside. I decided to leave an open spot for a small electrical room closed off for the most part from the sump hopefully that will elongate moisture and electronic problems. Other than that it’s a basic stand. But in the bright side I get plumbing on Tuesday with a Wednesday install and fill to see if everything holds up I’ll let it run and sit for a few days then I will drain and move into it’s new home that weekend and start the aquascape. Maybe have her cycle starting that weekend as well. Been a relatively good week have all equipment just need more sand and maybe a little more rock.
