Looks like Petco strikes again!
I was getting ready to leave work today, and I have this app called Next Door. I had a notification that somebody in the town next to me got an order of fish and can't keep them alive. Apparently she had ordered two goldfish from Petco and received two saltwater fish I didn't know what they were so I contacted her. She basically was looking for somebody to pick them up because she could not keep them alive. She didn't have a saltwater tank at all and that they would just die otherwise. Free to anybody locally who had a saltwater tank and can keep them alive. So I contacted her and she tells me that the two fish were royal granmma and a Midas blenny. I've been looking for a Midas blenny for a while now my heart stopped. I told her I'd be right there after work. So now they are in my quarantine tank acclimating. What are score!
Now I'm off to get some meds cuz I have none.

Free fish! Looks like a fat royal gramma!
She is small but fat. Already swimming everywhere. I'm going to take a chance that she gets along with my older one.
Midas blenny is just kind of stressed out in the corner still.

I keep trying to ID the top one but have no idea. Do you? It’s a very intruiging species.

It's a midas blenny. He's mottled from being stressed out.
Here's a pic this morning, blurry, but he is moving around a bit.

I’d keep a closer eye on him personally, usually Midas blennies should colour up once settled into the tank or hide whilst stressed.

Definitely a Midas blenny with blown out color.

@ OP. Midas love to perch in a hole. If you have a spare piece of 1/2" , 3/4" PVC around, cut a few 5" lengths. Clean and put in the tank.

I superglued a 1/2" tube to the back of my qt and the midas LOVED IT.

Well, he went in last night. This morning I turned on a small light and they were both sleeping. I'm hoping when I get home from work in a couple hours they are swimming around.

I have pvc in there, a few. I will zip tie some together when I get home. Thanks!

I see you have some, but it looks oversized. Midas blenny will back themselves into tiny holes no bigger than your finger around for security.

Extremely true. They like a cave that fits like a glove. The big pvc pipe for all the midas knows, is an eel tunnel and soon, he will be food for said eel.

I know there is no predatory fish in there. Midas doesn't know that.

Small pvc are in and he went right in.
They are both eating and doing well. No visible signs of any disease yet. Midas is still molted but not as dark hopefully he get some color soon. His tail is starting to yellow up.
Copper safe is coming in the mail tomorrow and I'll start my QT process.

Just an update;
Started coppersafe tonight.
Fish are starting to swim about the tank and no visible signs of any illness.
Midas blenny is not looking so molted. He did have a deep gold color this morning but as I approach the tank hid and went blotchy again. Probably normal in a qt. I assume.

Midas blenny is my favorite- until it was taken out by ?? Not sure but healthy for months and then one morning battered and barely alive. I would worry about royal grammas teaming up on it. My Midas was very active and eating anything. Best luck with yours!
