Hi! Thanks for sharing your story and your tank is amazing. I am just now setting up a 29 gallon and am new to saltwater. But have had freshwater for years! Elaine

Thank you Elaine and welcome to the salty side. You're going to love it.

Wow...I can't believe it's been three months since I last looked at this thread. I also can't believe it's been three more months of neglect on the tank...lol. I was given two choices...either start taking care of it or get rid of it. I chose the former.

Spent yesterday and this morning scraping the glass...again. Razor blades and time and I can see in the tank again. Really am going to work on not letting it get that bad again.

Siphoned out the cyano off the sand bed and that is my next task - to get things back in order to make that disappear. This is really my first battle with it on this scale. Sure I've had a patch or two, but now that I can see inside again, it's a lot worse than I thought. I need to order some new test kits and reagents as it's been so long most have expired.

Over the last few months, I've started to lose some things and it's 100% my fault due to the neglect. The one that really irks me is I lost my clam. It was kind of the final straw that helped make the decision to get things turned around.

The Gyre's had become a headache to clean so they weren't. I decided a few weeks ago to swap them out for a couple of MP-40's and I finally got around to installing them today. One on both "short" ends of the tank. I also ordered the WXM module for the Apex but haven't bothered with that yet. So for now they are synched running in Reef Crest mode. Baby steps...lol.

I may end up with some extra time on my hands over the next few weeks so we'll see what that may bring. But at least for now, at least from a distance, it's starting to look somewhat decent again.

Love your thread. And the color on that chromis is amazing! My chromis is just pale.
May I ask what's the name of the fish in your #308?

Thank you. That is a Pink Spotted Watchman Goby. Bottom dweller with a pretty cool personality. It actually loves to have its picture taken...lol.

Well although the tank continues under the ignore and neglect regimen, I do have one quick update to share. I ended up with two new fish additions yesterday.

It's been in the works for a while as I wanted to replace the Melanurus I lost several months ago. Since I didn't want it to be lonely during shipping, I also ended up with a Yellow Coris Wrasse as well. They're doing well thus far and although they didn't eat yesterday, they did just eat like pigs when I fed the tank. So that was a good sign.

Don't have pictures in the tank yet as they are still a little skittish and I can't get a decent shot. But I grabbed a couple while acclimating yesterday after delivery.

Super excited and maybe it will motivate me to start taking care of it again...lol.

One final update and it's a sad one...

Finally gave up the ghost and for personal reasons am having to take it down. Figured I'd share one last update before it's drained. Found great homes for the livestock and the final fish was delivered this afternoon.

It's been a great run...

Very VERY well said :) He was able to put up with me when I became a mod. I asked a bunch of questions and he was able to deal with me ;)

@revhtree - Here is your update. But it's more of an update on needing to patch the wall and baseboard and figure out what to do with all the receptacles. Two dedicated circuits going to nothing...lol.

Well, when the tank goes, you have to do something with the space....Looks like some new baseboard is in need to go with the wall repair....Hoping to see you with a new tank in the near future!!

Ditto, Don

David,
Fully understand you have to follow your heart.

You have meant so much to all of us in too many ways to mention.

Thanks so much for being a wonderful friend.

Freddie
