Hi everybody and Happy Christmas All!

I have noticed my Hanna Checker understimates KH of 1dKH consistently.
I bought new vials, new reagent, but I always get the same discrepancy vis-a-vis a multireference Fauna Marin solution whose KH is 6.6.
Now that I know, it’s not a big deal, I simply adjust my results.
Is there somebodyelse experiencing the same? Any chance to calibrate the checker?
Thanks

Mine (Hanna Alkalinity dKH checker) has compared pretty closely to home Salifert and LFS RedSea when I've compared.

Hanna does sell a "calibration check set" just to see if the checker is correctly interpreting what its photoreceptor sees but pretty sure there's no way to calibrate the unit if it's wrong.
*I wouldn't buy it, personally, but just mentioning it exists

...would've guessed bad reagent but seems like you've already covered that

The reagent from Hanna can vary pretty drastically between bottles with different lot numbers I’ve noticed over the years. My Checker is always a pretty close match to ICP tests. If you have a good checker you can test 5 water samples back to back and I usually only have 1 test that deviates by .01. To me that’s way more important than whether it’s off compared to some other vendors’ test. Just my 2 cents

FWIW, I’ve not seen an analysis of the FM standard to know how accurate it is, but in other contexts they may have some issues understanding alkalinity and have a calculator that may not be accurate.

Thanks, however this complicates a lot. Is there a trustworthy reference solution to compare with?
