550.000 Liter means 145.000 US gallon by just 1200 Watt. If you have such a big tank like Rob plans you safe money if you install this burner. We pay in Germany 0.30 Euro ~ 0.36 US Dollar per kW/h.

On Thursday 18th of February the glass will be delivered in the aquarium.
Then we can place steal rebar, and finish the concrete level.

Waterinsulation of the aquarium is postponed because of the weather conditions here.
We still need to make the corners of the aquarium round but when it's freezing outside, we have to wait.

Situation today:

Dear lovely people,

I'm in doubt with the overflow box and piping of the returnpumps.

For the overflow:
In one corner of the tank I have 4 pipes of 4 inches diameter which will be hidden in the radius of the round corner.
What do you think I need for piping for the overflow?

For the clean water, I want to use (multiple) Abyzz A400 pumps. They have an output diameter of 1,6".
That looks pretty narrow for such a big tank. What's your opinion?

4" was pretty standard for all the tanks I've worked on and seen at this size and bigger, but I'm just an aquarist and not an engineer. I imagine most of your water movement is coming from power heads in the tank anyway? I have not used the Abyzz, but I would give a vote for the Panta Rhei ECM 75. It seems you can buy 3 of them for the price of the Abyzz. We could generate standing waves in the 12K tank it was on pretty easily. I doubt you can tell the difference between the flow rates of the two, they both are gonna move a ton of water. For that matter, you couldn't dive in front of that hydro wizard at 100%, it would just blow you to the other end of the exhibit. Too much flow for any coral/fish in the direct flow pattern.

An earlier post said it was laminated glass, ~4000 lbs.

I'm lurking to see how that lite is secured & sealed in place. It is significantly heavier than any tank I have ever seen lifted into place using muscle and suction cups.

Crane mounted vacuum lifter will do the job. Mine will only handle 1200lbs. with a 4 to 1 safety factor. Made in Montana...Woods Power Grip. Anver makes them as well.

Weight is 4340lbs to be exactly.
Suction cups will work.
Installation is planned at the end of spring or summer. It's best the have temperatures above 46°F at night (or 8°C) for the curing of the silicone.

A professional team who does public aquariums will do the installation.

Have a nice weekend!
