So I found this setup on fb marketplace and it was listed pretty darn cheap at $275. Knowing that at that price I was in for a project I set up a visit to see if it was worth actually bringing home. After some negotiation because the setup looked pretty rough I convinced them to take much less and brought home my project

What I got looked awful and dirty. But I figured even if I have to redo all the plumbing it's still cheaper than buying a new one

After a bit of vacuuming and vinegar I think I may have scored a pretty darn good deal. It's an 8 month project so plenty of time to get everything looking nice

60x24x24 will be a mixed reef with sand
Planned stock list
Captive bred
Pair of majestic angels from (might do a majestic and a regal)
Golden lined rabbit
Pair of mandarins
All of those will be from @Biota_Marine

Possibly long term
Potters Angel or Golden Angel (gorgeous but $$$$)
Trio of pink square anthias

Non captive bred
Selection of wrasses I'm sure get plenty of suggestions from the wrasse lovers thread.
Flame or longnose hawk fish

Possible but not sure
Ocellate damsel 3-5. I know nothing about this fish but they caught my eye. I'm assuming they share all the wonderful characteristics of the damsel fish that we all "love" but at least they look neat

Please make your suggestions for what I should add or remove. Feel free to suggest equipment. This is going to be a slow build because the spot for the tank won't be available for a bit so plenty of time to convince me that your favorite animal needs a home in my tank

Thank you for considering some of our animals for your build! Definitely let us know if you have any questions about any of our livestock

I have been following you for a while. Originally I was planning to have only captive bred and aquacultured items in the tank.

Do you think it would be possible to add a potters or golden later if I started with a pair of majestic or a majestic and a regal from you? And would a potters and a golden get along if they could be added to that tank?

From our experience the goldens tend to get along with many of the other dwarf angelfish because they are a bit more shy and reclusive so they hang around the same area in a tank rather than move around and graze like many of the other dwarf angelfish.

We usually recommend regals to go into a more established tank because they love to graze on the rock and tend not to do as well in sterile QT tank or new setups.

Decided to keep on with the cleaning and found a bit of a setback. The sump is leaking. Trying to decide whether it's worth trying to save this one or just getting a new sump and setting it up to my specs

looks good.. good score on the tank and stand...I will check back again soon..
Stand is trashed. So much mold. I think I'm going to use this as a stand. 2000 lb per shelf rack. Big enough for everything and has the capacity to hold it all safely

Sounds like I will probably go with a pair of majestics then. They have been my favorite fish for a long time.

Quick update. Found another killer deal so I picked up an eshoppe sump (unknown model) a skimz skimmer and return pump. Little bit of cleaning and we're moving forward again. No leaks from the new sump and the skimmer is creating plenty of foam even with just fresh water and vinegar

That's kind of my thinking as well. But the cheap part of me says $20 in silicone and a little work isn't going to kill you
I don't normally recommend Discount but they usually have decent prices on used gear. That's where I picked up my sump.
