i got my mantis a few days ago, when i added him to the tank he was fine and i fed him some raw shrimp. in the tank i used a large rock with a hole
underneath as his hiding spot, but he started to use other spots to hide.. foolish me tried to re-scape the aquarium again.

i took him out and place a few rocks in, (looking at it now the shrimp has much lesser space to walk, and i dont know if its ideal, please tell me!)

when i put him back into the tank again he seemed different from before and really isnt active anymore. he stood at the back of the tank after i put him in (in the open) and now hes lying upside down in the corner, and I’ve noticed him turning a little white.. whats happening to him! please help!!

images include him in the inital tank setup and moving on to the newer scape.. (sorry for the bad quality, its from Instagram)

edit: all of a sudden the tank smelled very fishy..

Going by the pictures I’m guessing the tank is brand new and wasn’t properly cycled or stabilized. Can you provide complete details about tank and also all parameters? Nothing you can do for mantis except return it to store or rehouse it if it’s not already to late.

Can you pull him out and into a bucket of cycled water from another tank and get a bottle of Dr Tim’s Bacteria? They make one to neutralize waste to bring down ammonia and nitrites too I think.
