Yessir with a matching 44" tall stranding table. All pre 70's imported 12/4 mahog.
Wow! Very impressive. So they were willing to pay for mahogany and then wanted it “crafty” ? Philistines. Lol
Hard to source ‘real’ mahogany anymore. The mahogany name has become almost generic unfortunately. I actually just used up my last piece of South American mahogany last year, may never find it again

Red, I refuse to work with. Smells like cat pee. White I do like. Especially quarter sawn. I haven't felt much in the craftsman style, but that's one of the anchors of that style to me is the beautiful White oak.
Fair enough. I do like throwing some oil on some nice medullary rays.

Genuine mahogany was actually the less expensive of the two options. First they wanted all wenge, which I refused to build with, then zebrawood which I said would look terrible as a full piece. They wanted a quote on it anyways. It would have been $30,000 in lumber before I picked up a finger to build it.

I like looking at it. It is the most splintery word I've ever worked on. I have a very Asian influenced design palette with a lot of curves and wenge does not lend itself well.

A few jewelry boxes I made. First from walnut, two from wenge.
