copepods.. do I need them??
All new rock, everything thats gone in the tanks is qt'd 45 to 73 days
feel like I need to seed.
What do you all think?
are you planning on starting your own culture?
was a long time ago, but was a pain in the butt,
just saturate your tanks/sumps with them should maintain population.
i don't think these are the right type, copepods, for seeding if these are the type
that live in the water column which most i've bought are.
i do buy them local to feed the fish, bought none will last for any length of time.
the fish devour them immediately.
go with amphipods. these will live amongst and under the rocks. also in the algae in a refugium or scrubber.
my scrubber is an amphipod hotel.

Thinking of ordering this --> https://www.heisenbergaquaculture.com/shop/podbomb
Local grower here in Georgia.
You can do that and then do a biodiversity kit from ispf. Their kits rock.

Miracle mud from IPSF is what I bought , awesome service, contained a bunch of snails/pods .They even included a free toadstool frag and sea lettuce macro. Mohalo!

I feel Copepods are more than food. They also combat Algae issues and help in the cycle of the tank. I dose 3 containers of AlgaeBarn Ecopods every 6 weeks. It is to help make sure my Divided Leopard wrasse stays fat and healthy, BUT, it is also to make sure that the algae is kept back.

Pods are awesome, as long as you have something to eat them lol. Never had them eat corals, but have had them annoy them.

Ohh yeah. My Duncan’s love pods. Zoas don’t like the amphipod walking all over them though, but the wrasses and Talbots damsels take care of that.

I hope you are wrong in Zoas not liking them because I have a frag of the WWC Illuminati coming.

In excess proportions. When I had no wrasses or damsels in the “front” 180 they annoyed them. Added the Talbots and it stopped lol.

Where does one go to buy some amphipods?

@sp1187
i've never had to buy any.
they come in on frag plugs. look for them before dipping, if you're dipping, and pick them off into your sump.
i've also got them in bags of macro algae.
doesn't take a lot to end up with a lot.
