Looking for input on PH from group here. Since my system swap my PH has been pretty much locked in. Big skimmer had me running into high 8.4's with minimal swings in thousandths.
Swapped out that with smaller eshopps skimmer. Since fresh water change yesterday that put me at 8.32 initially but after cpl hours ive been pretty much locked in at 8.25. No swing with lights out.
I think @Eagle_Steve has locked his PH in.
Who else monitors PH closely and doesn't see swings?
My old system would swing 8.2 lights out to 8.3 full daylight
I go from 8.30 to 8.32. I also run reverse lighting on a huge fuge on the 180s.

The angler tank, even with out a fuge is 8.1 to 8.3.

The macro grow out is the crazy one. 8.5 during day and 8.1 at night with the small sump fuge for delicate macros being lit up.

All are rock steady though and I don’t consider the mixed reef tanks as much of a swing lol. Even the angler tank isn’t that big of a swing.

Forgot frag tank. It is in the fish barn with the macro grow out and is 8.15 to 8.22. No fuge at all and is the lowest stable one. I tried to get it up to 8.3, but gave up. Not sure why it is different. I can only guess that the nems play a part. There are a lot of nems and one massive one to boot lol.

What is your tool of measurement?
I kind of freaked out in higher PH. Alot was going on with cloudy water bloom and wasn't sure what was irritating my shrooms. Most likely the cloudy water.
What are benefits of locking in higher Ph? Do you see movement dosing alk?
I feel like my water column may be going through some things but going to monitor alk and start dosing if need be and see if it affects my PH any.
May get valves to fine tune big skimmer and throw it back in.
Really kinda need to see what happens in next few weeks after things settle in and get in rhythm.

Yes this one. How about at least a sleep over lol.
Have you ever thought about taking a small piece of foot? Preferably a little piece of foot that bubbling up that you could cut at crease? I think I could get a booger from that guy lol

Not sure it works that way with these guys. It has started to curl up one side, so may split gain soon. That’s what it did the last time it split. It isn’t like a bta though. I pinched up, tore itself a little at the mouth and had 2 mouths for a bit before it finally split about a 1/4 of itself off.

I'm calling dibs on next baby. I have to have it. I'm not sure if it works for those nems in particular but have read some papers that some nems do reproduce naturally by pedal laceration.

My first coral casualty. Got this Red dragon acro Wednesday afternoon and it pretty much immediately did this. LFS is going to replace it so no biggie.
I’m going to leave it in the tank and hope for a miracle but that seems unlikely?

I would cut off the tip that still alive, make sure when gluing to plug that the glue covers healthy tissue and see what happens.

That's interesting. I've got a high light high flow spot picked out for it. Have you found better growth in higher or lower light?
When I had colonies before I sold them due to moving, it didn’t matter. Grew the same up high or down low. High par colony (about 400) was a neonish pink/red and the lower par (about 175-200) was a deep red. Looking at the 2, you would not thing the same acro, except structure. The light intensity just excites specific zoo and that is where the color shift comes from.
