Ok, it turns out I do have more money than I expected!

I now have enough funds to setup a QT tank.

Now the question is: which dottyback?

They have the orchid and a sunrise. BUT, they also have a striped blenny, which are pretty hard to find up here.

Thoughts?

Ive done research on the 3 fish mentioned above, so it’s not like I’m impulsive buying.

M,,,,,,F.....I had to get the coral bandit shrimp out of the 140 last night.. which my girl loves.
We kept finding fish missing and he is about 3 inches or a little more in body length. I read stories of people having the same issue and the shrimp was attacking fish at night.
Also we know he has been killing off snails cause empty shells are piled up by his hiding place in the rocks...
Lost a neon gobbie, fairy basslet, a small anthias,
So his home is now in the refug....

Thoughts?

Now it’s between the dottyback and the blenny.
I'm not familiar with That dottyback.

Is this type prone to turning into fish and invert invert killers when they hit about 4"?

I'm dealing with this with my neon DB. Before the hospital tank all was well. During the change over, he went into the acclimation box and somehow jumped out, into the DT. Since he's killed all but a few of my nass snails and I'm pretty sure also killed my chiseltooth wrasse.

Blenny are cool to look at. Got a Midas in qt now. I don't love how reclusive they are but it is what it is.

So where did you fall on the qt? Are you set up for the new fish?
Yup! Setting it up now. Got the filter and heater while I was there.

I plan to ‘instant’ cycle the QT tank with media from the 29g.

In hindsight, I should have setup the QT tank BEFORE I got the fish, but, oops.

Can a QT tank be bare bottom? If not, that’s ok. I figured with a dottyback it may prefer sand?

So, hehe, when I pulled out this fake nem, I thought nothing off it.

I just realized there are a TONNN of amphipods on it! (Now dried and dead, which I’m thankful for)

All those white spots you see, are dead ones. They absolutely COVER the whole thing.
