By Friday last week, all the plumbing was done and cured for 24h. Decided to do a leak test on Saturday night and at the same time check how the overflow system and return lines work.

Filled her up and boom, leaks on all 3 overflow returns, including emergency line. Turned out, it just needed more thread tape by the bulkheads. Tested thereafter for 24h and all is clear.

Looks great. Can you explain the square loop on the return Line. Never saw this style of plumbing before?

Thanks, on the square loop i have my ghl flow meter. It uses 25mm pipe and my main return lines are 32mm. So I created a bypass so when water returns it goes 32mm into 2 x 25mm pipes and returns back into 32mm. I hopefully don’t loose any flow or rather it maybe a minimal loss.

Time for some electrical work. Gosh these tanks have a lot going on. Electrical work taking far longer than I expected and i am only 40% there.

Let me know what you guys think so far. Still to neaten cables so mind the eyesore.

After spending all day yesterday cabling i would say i am 80% done with it. Most important things done already. While busy with that i started to fill her up with Rodi.

Ran a pipe from my Rodi to my tank directly and turned her on

It officially started

A more complete pic with lights on. But silly me forgot to rinse the rocks before putting it in. I guess the excitement got me confused. Anyway it is cloudy as you can imagine. So hopefully with some filter will in the socks chamber that will clear in a few days.

Great looking tank - I see you’re from Durban- I used to live in Umhlanga rocks many moons ago. Good luck with the rest of the build
