Well got this Planet Aquarium 220g tank just sitting around begging me to set it up, so I listened and am starting the process.

Since this will be FOWLR, I’m gonna make this a super simple build. It will have sand, rock, water, skimmer, light, and fish:D.

I always wanted non-reef safe fish. Looking at some Angels for sure, a few wrasse, a trigger, a fox face, etc.

Not gonna even put an Apex on it. Oh will run an ATO.

Gonna be awesome! I’ve always liked the idea of non reef safe fish! Following can’t wait to see the progress!

Im gonna try to make it fast if I don’t get lazy. Gonna order a box of fish and get them going on a TTM process so they will be ideally ready to go into the tank after cycle is done.

Cleaned some sand I’ve had for a couple years chilling in the garage and added it to the tank. Now I gotta find me a new astray :). Not too concerned with contamination since this will only be FOWLR and it’ll be weeks before the first fish are added. Give skimmer enough time to clean up the water and do it’s job.

I'm also still going back and forth mentally about which type/size of fish I actually want to add. When I look at some FOWLR tanks, all the fish seem like they do not have much swimming room. I know some Angels get really large and I know I want at least 1/2 Angels.

Definitely looking at adding at least 1 group of schooling fish (either Anthias, Chromis, Bannerfish). Now that I've started, it's exciting and frustrating at the same time :D. Good thing I have time to narrow down what I want to go in there.

I like reef but why not have both?? lol

keep us posted man

The way I look at it is this could POTENTIALLY convert to a reef later down the road. You never know in this hobby.
