Battling a small hair algae war right now my method is manual removal and weekly water changes also running more carbon , Are you making your own rodi ? Might wana start there for the source of it
I have the BRS 6 stage deluxe RO/DI unit. I’ve cleaned the tank once since changing live rock. With no live stock, there’s not a lot to clean.
Do you scrub off the rock in the tank? I have a brush, just afraid it will spread doing it in the tank.

Check your filters in the unit I have it on my glass and frag racks I use a toothbrush and a magnetic glass cleaner and remove it and it gets sucked into the filter that’s why I’m running more carbon and also why I’m doing more water changes I added hermits and 2 turbo snails too they eat the stuff as soon as I knock it off

I have the Gieseman Aurora T5LED Hybrid. T5s, Giesemann 2 actinic blue & 2 actinic, run 6 hours@100%. Marine Blue & Royal Blue LED start @ 9:30 and slowly ramp up to 85% (3 hours) then back down ending at 9:30...not using the white channel. It’s about 8 inches above tank. I’m afraid of doing too many water changes since it’s only been running 2 weeks with the live rock change, 1/2 sand taken out, and water being taken out to start the frag take. That’s where I put my corals until the tank was more stable

If you have questions/problems with your build, should you post them separate from your build thread? Suggestions are greatly appreciated. He’s secretly plotting how to get rid of the tank, because mom is giving it more attention them him

@Humblefish and anyone else who has experience with Velvet, I could use some advice. I was at my LFS today and discussed plans for my tank. They don't believe I need to completely tear it down to clean it since it's been fallow since September (except for 2 Emerald crabs), I'm planning on replacing all the live rock and possibly the sand too. Reading your article "Why a fallow period will sometimes fail" is a big part of why I decided to take the tank down and thoroughly clean it. I know the article applies more to ich than it does to velvet, but after losing all my fish, I'm a bit paranoid!

Hello. Any chance you have s link to that article? “Why a fallow period will sometimes fail”. Cant seem to find it...

Well, it’s been a long time since updating my build. Health problems (mine & parents) disrupted life for awhile, but all is well now. Playing catch up now that I’m home, so hopefully I will be able to work on my build in the coming weeks! Missed being able to work on my tank on being on R2R. Happy to be back!:)

Hubby sends me down every year the night before it starts, so I get “me” time.

This year I got the VIP pass, so you can get in Friday while the vendors are setting up. By the time it closed, I knew what I was buying before it opened on Saturday. Also, you get in 1 hour early on Saturday & Sunday

Started transferring corals back to the new setup

Wanted to try something different, but don’t get used to it. The middle piece just took up too much room (bigger than it looks). My original plan was to have more space for swimming

Piece of my JF Space Invader that broke off while moving corals to the frag tank back in March. The thing healed, settled and started growing a new polyp in less than a month
