so I bought a wrasse about a week ago and didn't notice any of these dots until I watched some videos on reefing today and spotting disease in fish so I thought id sit in front of the tank and carefully inspect all fishes they were all fine including the six line wrasse but I saw this on his body. can anybody explain to me what it is thanks.

also side story the wrasse tried to take me suntails goby home and I never seen that fish attack anything but he beat the S*** out of the wrasse which is good as he doesn't mess with him or try sleeping in his home (could it be scars from the fight as they were fighting in a hole under the rock)

I know six lines are notorious assh**** but i like this dude :)

Looks like lymphocystis. Lympho is a condition and not disease. Often its associated with water quality issue as simple as elevated ammonia or nitrate and can be that of water from LFS and not yours. Assure to provide Good water quality monitored by a reliable test kit and feed nutritious food with fats such as LRS nano frenzy and mysis shrimp.

Although I agree with the above remedies (ensuring water quality is spot on and nutrition is looked after), lymphocystis is indeed a disease in its own right, and not just a condition, like dry skin during winter for example.

It is caused by a virus (iridivirus family) and most fish will have been exposed to it, though not all develop symptoms. Most symptomatic fish will recover completely but may have a relapse at a later time of they are stressed.

Think similar to cold sores, which are also caused by a virus. If a person has coldsores they are suffering from a herpes simplex disease, usually HSV-1.

This info doesn't change the above recommended treatments.
