Back in mid March, I got a piece of live rock that had a mushroom hitchhiker. I thought it was a discosoma. It has since morphed so much, I’m not sure. Unfortunately it’s not in the easiest place for pictures but here is it’s journey.

At first it was a reddish brown color with a little streak of green. It was also pretty smooth.

A few weeks later it was getting much more green. (It was getting ready to close in this pic.)

Here it’s closed.

A few more weeks had it starting to get rather bumpy.

Here it is today. It’s getting these crazy bumps that are larger than the bumps on my ricordia mushroom.

Any ideas what’s going on?

I'd still say discoma, weird though. Maybe your light spectrum/intensity is causing it to bubble.

Considering there are really only two common types of mushroom genera in the reef hobby, it is 100% a discosoma.

My mushroom today. It has had 8 foot babies and had bubbles more than ever.
