My tank has a real case of the grungies

Not entirely sure why right now but I got bubble algae, hair algae, a coral bleaching. Just a sloppy mess. I stepped up water changes and watching params pretty close.

If you notice top right I have a cloth down to cut light from that bleaching coral see if that helps him out. I found a small Aiptasia on it that I got rid of maybe that bugged him.

Tank is coming up on 2 years old.

On a two year old tank, my first thought would be no3 and po4.
Have your changed foods? Or increased feedings? Or any other recent changes?

if your running filter socks maybe try to change them more frequently.

have you seen no3 and po4 rise recently?

maybe you need to replenish clean up crew?

over all doesn’t look too bad. Curious what your water parameters are.

You probably need a better cleaning crew.

Doesn't look that bad, maybe you could get rid of some of the algae by siphoning it (It comes off easily)

I've been there over there years on a aging, maturing tank. It just takes a long time to a tank to really age.
However who wants to wait years.

Personally I would refresh your tank.

You have a simple rock scape, and you probably can remove some of the rocks and give them a scrub with a plastic bristle brush, rinse in salt water and put them back.

I wouldn't remove the rock with the Anenome.
Clean that rock in the Tank, and they catch all the floating algae in a net, or sihpon thru a sock.

While you have the rocks out, do a good cleaning of the sandbed.

This was my tank at 2 year mark when it got an Hair Algae Outbreak. I pluck and pruned and it would come back.

It got fed up and took out all the rocks, and scrubbed and rescaped.

Same rocks. Fresh new look.

The Hair alage NEVER CAME Back.

I did increase the CUC. Emerald Crabs for Algae on rocks. etc.
For sandbed plenty of choices to keep it turned over and clean.

I have for cleanup crew

1 x Conch
Maybe 10 assorted snails including a large mexican turbo
2 x emerald crabs
2 x shrimp (plus a pistol shrimp that I see once every 6 months but I hear him)
Maybe 4 hermits.

its a 75 gal tank with 20 gal sump

I have chaeto in my sump and a bunch of rock.

I run a small carbon filter that about every 2 months I also add phos minus. I change carbon every 2 weeks.

I do 10 gal a week water change mostly because thats an easy amount to change out.

I dose just Cal and Dkh.
