Just curious please.
I'm seeking more information on the proper powered setup for a 90 gallon freshwater tank setup. It's not a long tank else I'd get two powerheads on opposite ends of the tank. This tank is deeper/taller than any of the other tanks I've had.
I'm shopping around prior to tank purchase and doing research in the process!
Thank you for all information and the Shar of your personal experience with me.
Always,
LeAnne M Pruitt

Hi LeAnne and Welcome to R2R!

I run 2 MP40’s on my 90 gallon which is 4 feet wide. I’m interested in what responses you will get for your 90g tall aquarium.

Welcome to the forum Leanne,

I would go ahead with opposing powerheads even with a taller tank. The cross currents will keep things moving well. A pair of Aquaclear 20 or 30 powerheads should do well. You did not mention what you are using for your main filtration, canister filter? The return inlet for most canisters and sumps tends to be near the top of the tank. That said, I would suggest placing your powerheads in the lower 3rd of the tank.

Good luck and hope to see you on the salty side soon :)

I would go with 2 jeabo 0W-25's.
They both come with controllers and have different functions that would work well with your system. Also they wont break the bank.

Welcome! Glad you joined.

Way you describe tank, I'd lead towards a gyre mounted up/down instead of horizontal - I'm using IceCap 4ks and really love my two in my 180gallon. There is section of Forum on equipment if you still seek more info.

This is a great reference book type article I still refer:
