My 2.5g ghetto rig. Has a sponge filter attached to a transfer pump that is being used to create water circulation and current along with 90 gph powerhead. Has a zooanthid that got suffocated by the floating ball of cheato with either cyanobacteria or hair algae covering it, an encrusting hynophora, scarlett hermit crab, tuxedo urchin, 2 bumblebee snails, a velvet nudibranch that is hopefully alive somewhere in the rock work. And one other frag that I don't know what it is. A little over 6 months old.

Just getting this 50gal good and primed... birds nest and tube flowers are just out of sight but the "floating shelf" (that actually has a column in the front) holds my hammerhead and green star ... "Where's Waldo" (emerald crab) is in there somewhere.

I'm at work so no pictures but I call mine a AiO nano but it is a bit on the big side for it at 34.5 gallons, I think the display side is 30G. I got it at an amazing price ($350 for the entire setup+stand) and since it's my first tank I figured having the extra water would make the parameters a bit slower to change giving me a bit of a buffer.

This was one of my favorite tanks when I had just gotten to the end of the hobby about 9 years ago. We were buying a 100 year old farm house without AC, and the floors where not the best. So the fish tanks had to go. This one was sitting on my desk at work. I would watch the goby and shrimp work all day as well.

Shrimp and Goby hard at work.

Built my own back in the late 80's out of some old shower glass I found on junk day...purchased 1 piece of clear for the front from a local glass shop...it was 16x8x10..so it would fit on an in-wall shelf...
had one bta and a maroon clown...was my 1st attempt at building a tank...held water ..good enough.

I've always loved hexagons for tanks, they just feel... more natural. I've seen a few huge circular tanks that feel like a modern version of them.

Same hear around 1985. Read a brief article in an aquarium mag about 'reef aquariums' being developed in Europe and built my own: 8g display (gravity fed) with a 12g sump, lava rock & sand filter stacked trays, a little Sanders protein skimmer and a DIY overflow box. It had a juvenile Condy anemone, couple Sailfin Blennies for a while (until a baby Mantis grew up and ate them!) and purple Zoas covered just about everything else.

We've come a long way since then, but it sure was fun making this stuff up as you went along :)
