Just a few pics of interest...

One might say this rock pinnacle is getting a bit crowded. Warfare is constant...

Love the new pics!

Gotta ask how you vacuum the sand bed without either tipping the corals and live rock or sucking the sand out?

I vacuum around the live rock weekly. The rock work is quite stable, but I still have to be careful. Every few months I'll vacuum under a rock, then wait a few months and vacuum under another, etc. Also vacuum out the back chambers once a month.

I just use a standard 'Gravel Vac' with a plastic valve spliced in to control the flow (you can see it here in my 'cleaning kit'). By controlling the flow I can suck up just the lighter detritus while the sand, because it is heavier, just falls back down:

Beautiful tank! Just got my 12 gallon cadlights tank back. Bought my heater and Hydor 240 tonight. Have a maxspect razor Nano running over it. Already cycled from live sand and rock from a well established tank. And all the LPS from my DT since I went all SPS.

Glad there's more 12g cadlights out there. Your tank definitely inspires me for my little nano! Good post. Following along.

The 12g is a great little tank with great proportions, IMO. Good luck on your start up.

Some of your Rics are 6" across?

Inspiring. Your tank reminds me what got me into reefing: Rics, Blastos & Yumas. Simply well done.

Thanks. Yeah, Some R. floridas expand to 6" and the R. yumas around 4-1/2". Quite a challenge to keep them away from other LPS/SPS in such a small tank. If they get too 'uppity', I chop the heads off and put them in the 'valley'.

As much as I like SPS, I really enjoy having corals in the tank that sway back-and-forth a bit.

Do you have other tanks, or just this one? Such a fun little tank.
