I have the opposite! I let my alk go where it wants any more and quit paying attention as long as it’s over 8 I don’t care.. I’ve had 2 kalk over doses and my alk dropped from 10 to 4.8 in like 2 hours as it snowed like crazy in my tank! Both times “2 months apart” I let it rise back up over a week or so and not a single loss! I think it’s got something to do with the biome and that’s where I’m placing my money! I dose bacteria so I know my tanks biome is built up and that seems to be the only thing we need to keep stable or work on! At least that’s my experience and new thinking…
maybe we all (the hobby in general) are overthinking it..I dose all alk during nighttime (Na2CO3) in order to withhold higher pH. In the mornig - around 8.6 - late evening around 7.6 dKH. No coloured sticks however
