So my second build thread here on R2R. I need to get some photos from my phone, I know photos or it didn't happen. I won this Cade 600 S2 from Mile High Tides in Denver, CO a year or two ago. It was in storage until I moved into a house recently. Excited that it is wet and cycled. Hoping to stock with LPS, SPS, and some softies. Currently looking for springeri damsels to start. Need to plan out what other fish/inverts to stock.

Setup and Equipment:
Cade 600 S2 tank, stand, and sump
Bashsea 6-24 twisted skimmer in the sump
Reef Octopus VarioS 6 running return and manifold
Jebao DCW 5000 running the Bashsea skimmer. I wanted to run the skimmer off the manifold originally but didn't work when I tried it
Aqua Gadget Pro Media reactor running carbon. In the future, I want to run a mini reactor off the manifold
Finnex 300w heater and controller
Radion XR15 G4 Pro with Reefbrite XHO-K15 LEDs
AI Nero 5 with the guard, possibly adding a second in the future
BRS 6 Stage RODI plus water saver
Fritz Red Box salt, transitioning to Aquaforest in future
Caribsea sand
Various rock, previously live
Hygger ceramic filter media in sump

What do you think about the sizing of your return pump? I am starting to plan to setup the same tank in the future and am looking at the return pumps available. I was looking at the Sicce SDC pumps, but not sure what size would be appropriate. What do you run your return pump at?

So the original idea was to run the Bashsea skimmer off the Varios 6, hence why I got the 6 and not the 4. Also wanted to have a big enough pump to run the manifold for future additions. I should have done a little more research on the skimmer I wanted to run. Since it is a Beckett-style skimmer it really needs a lot of flow. I added a pump, Jebao, to the sump in the same chamber the skimmer is in to run the skimmer soley. That pump is running at full bore. The return pump is currently on the second setting with plenty of juice to run anything I want to add to the manifold. I love Sicce pumps and have used many in the past. For SDC I would use the 7.0. Should have enough gph to run things off the manifold as well as the return. I need to get some pics up of the current setup.

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback.

Did you have any problems adapting the pump to the Cade tubing? I understand it’s metric, but I haven't been able to determine what size silicone tubing and clamps I'll need to connect them. My plan is too have the pump connected via a short run of silicone tubing, but I’m not exactly sure what components I need. A picture of that section would be awesome.

I’m slowly collecting parts for the tank and then my plan is to use some of my tax refund money to buy the tank, so I’m ordering pieces here and there as money allows.

I’ll try to get better pictures tomorrow but here is the manifold return pipe connected to the pump. I was able to find one of the return pump adapters that fit the tubing that came with the Cade tank. I’ll add plastic pipe clamps one day.

You’re welcome. Happy to help. Need more Cade builds on here. Really like the tanks. Also working on adding sump lighting. I’ll try to tidy up and send some sump pics tomorrow.

Current stock list:
Springeri Damsel x 3
Flasher Wrasse - not 100% sure which. Was told whipfin but not convinced.

CUC on the way from Reef Cleaners. Should be here Friday. Diatoms have started in force so good time to add.

Thank you for the shots, it's such a nice tank.

I love your velcro storage solution inside the door. Very creative.

My current DIY stand doesn't have any storage underneath it and I am regretting it. I was also worried about the cable management side of the CADE, but it looks pretty deep from your photo. Really helpful to see real life pictures of the tank because the stock photos don't quite give you perspective of the dimensions.

Bacterial bloom all cleared up. Possible heater issues with Finnex controller. I need to get a calibrated thermometer to check it against. It may just be off.

CUC looking good as well. A little dieoff but to be expected. All fish looking great. Getting time to add some tester corals.

Have you ever considered growing any Chaeto in the sump? I know it doesn't have a dedicated section for it, but I'm thinking up a creative solution to have both a skimmer and a small refugium.

My plan is to stick a brightwell XPORT brick in the skimmer chamber with the Ultra Reef UKS-160 I got and then I was going to stick some of my Marine Pure gems from my existing tank in one of the media baskets along with a media bag of activated carbon. That should leave two of the media basket sections free. Seems like a great spot for a mini refugium and you can clamp on a small LED grow light over those two sections.

I was looking at the Tunze Eco Chic or Reef Breeders Refugium lights. I'm thinking the Tunze Eco Chic would fit vertically in there aimed away from the skimmer to minimize light spill.

I definitely think is it doable. I was considering running the skimmer out of the tank so I could utilize that chamber for a refugium. You could run it where you are describing would just have to add something to keep it contained and not get into the return pump area. I am not sure a refuge that small would have benefits though. Maybe if you were able to run that entire media basket area as a refuge it would be useful. You could put carbon and the gems in the skimmer chamber, maybe utilize one/two of the baskets.

With the ATO glass divider in the rear chamber, how was the Radion to mount? I presume it’s off to one side more than the other?

Is it very noticeable?
It is off to the left when looking straight on. Where my tank is placed I do not notice the offset. It is off about 1/2 an inch. Maybe less. I can get an exact measurement if you want.
