I’m wondering what is better for the long run, stuffing my sump with foams for mechanical filtration, or a filter roller?

Keep in mind this is for a brackish tank so I am wondering if a filter roller would be able to keep up as I was told they are amazing when paired with a protein skimmer, but on their own don’t get as much particles out of the water as a canister filter does.
again that’s what I was just told so I am coming here to find out if that’s true

I’m gonna try foam/sponges first. Then I’ll go for the filter roller if it doesn’t work out

People seem to like their rollers. Very popular right now.

the thing is a filter roller plus a protein skimmer is a dream come true people say. But a filter roller on its own may not pick up all the particles.
