i have customer who has an all out infestation of spiders. He added a few wild pieces without dipping and now has prob a hundred spiders in the tank. The pieces cannot be taken out its a 7 year mature reef. We put in a melanarus and Sea grass wrasse but I think it's more than they can handle. Will interceptor work?

Something I hope to never encounter. Reading the link above sounds like not many options other than removing by hand and removing the corals infected with em. Hopefully @joshporksandwic can help.

Those wrasses are a good start. If there is room for more, add more Halichoeres species and skip a day or two of feeding and they will be eliminated in no time.

Trust me the wrasses are outnumbered. I dipped 4 small rocks and got over 40 adults. The babies were too small really see. So interceptor will work KJ?

I have not seen these particular spiders and information seems limited.I have seen the transparent variety come off with iodine dips and strong burst of water.

Yes dips are when you can take it out and dip. That is not feasible so I'm seeing if mainly anyone has used interceptor for spiders

Being that they are all Arthropods, I am inclined to think that Interceptor/Sentinel would be effective, both as a dip and treatment of the display.
I spent about a couple of hours on research on sea spiders on different forums and this is what was suggested , but what I recommend is set up qt tank and try this kind of treatment including corals and rocks with the sea spiders to see how it effects or see what the side effects are.

Fenbendazol :)
No vet or prescription needed.
This will do the trick!
Please be careful when using any form of chemical treatment.

when dosed incorrectly or allowed to stay in the water for more than 30 hours losses can occur Same rules apply to interceptor
Lots of carbon is needed at that 30 hour mark (24-30 hrs)

Do you have a link or info on the dosage? Also a particular brand. I am looking at the safeguard brand

I found this spider a while back on an acro, but it looks a lot different then what you are posting pics of. The research I did indicated that they have no known natural predators because they offer no nutritional value, come out mostly at night, and are very difficult to see. They are basically vampires, they insert an appendage into the coral and literally suck the life out of your coral. Their limbs are one cell. Watching it move around was really creepy, it moved so slow and deliberately.

I was able to knock this guy off in a 6 cup Tupperware container with tank water and about 12 drops of Lugols. They are not very common and not a lot of info on how to treat for them.

I'd suggest your friend tries a few different treatments in a separate tank and see what works before going crazy on a full tank treatment that may or may not work.

Interceptor is pretty gentle in my experience. I am tagging along to see the results. I appreciate other people's experience in reef keeping. Good luck.

Is it really wierd that now I kind of wish that I had a pico tank for all these amazingly cool pest species?!? Those things are crazy looking...
