I had a gem tank earlier this year that could not take the therapeutic copper level (cupramine) and stopped eating and was swimming all bizarre like in circles and top of the water. He was disorientated and I think it was copper poison. I immediately reduce the level to half by replacing half the water and he immediately recover the next day. I took him out after a week in a sterile tank and he survived it quite well. Just my experience....
sound advice def worth a try

My Gem Tang has not eaten for 3 weeks after day 1 of QT and also got bullied. He just hangs out in one spot and not move. He is now eating after I turned off the lights for a few days. Added big air stone and more decor. Hatched brine shrimp to get it started. Did a prazi pro treatment. At first, he only likes eating PE pellets food. Now he that with nori. Within those 3 weeks, I did not do any treatment because I was afraid of stressing him more.

My gem happened the same. I think it’s bateria infection. When it happens i keep my gem in 30g with some LR and HOB filter by himself for 7 weeks. Change 1 gallon water every day, feed flake soak in selcon ( no medication). I don’t believe in medication anymore. Bc it treated onething and cause something esle.

Please don’t use any medication on gem tang. I have gem with same problem after qt with med. After i remove all medication and change water about 3 weeks later it go back to normal.

I am going to say to please continue to treat gem tangs like other tangs. This experience is not an exception and reason to not properly quarantine.

Any update on if fish survived? I am having some problems also with getting to therapeutic level with copper and gem tang. Twice when I tried to get copper power above 1.75 it became lethargic and started hiding and swimming a bit funny. That settled when I dropped levels back down. Doing tank transfer starting yesterday with acriflavine and then formalin baths....
