I would maybe wait to add the fairy wrasses if your current one is almost dead. He probably won’t handle aggression well.

Blue spotted jawfish are expert only usually, they need cooler tanks. Other jawfish are easy though.

Rest of the list is good
Yes - I was planning on waiting until existing hali / vrolik's wrasse passes... before I add new wrasses. Does anyone know how long Hali family Wrasse live? I am wondering if he is just dying of old age? He was adult when I received him and I have had 8 years?
Could I add 3 fairy wrasses and keep a pod population for mandarins? I had read that it is the Hali family wrasses that kill the pod population? Are fairy wrasses not pod eaters? I was ordering pods monthly but it become cost prohibitive. I tried making them for a while also to much work and space. Ultimately I want a pair of mandarins.... could I keep a pair mandarins and 2 or 3 fairy wrasses (no hali wrasse)?

I have a IM 25 gallon lagoon with a snowflake clown and a black ice clown and a royal dottyback. inverts are 3 nassarius snails, 2 margarita snails, 2 astrea snails and 3 hermit crabs. I would like to do a goby and pistol shrimp but I think I added the dottyback to early (thoughts). If I can't get the goby what else would you recommend

Depends. How aggressive is the dottyback that you have? Do you see issues with the clowns and dottyback getting along ?

Only when they were all added (all three at the same time. I know probably not the best idea now) the dottyback found its spot a ran the clowns off now they are chill with one another.

Well if you don't see aggression issues I guess you could try, but gobys are not fish that can hold their own with 2 clowns and a dottyback which are all 3 aggressive fish. You'll probably end up with the goby bring bullied. But there's really no way to tell what outcome you'll get.

Hi guys, I have a possum wrasse compatibility question.
Can you put 2x possum wrasse together successfully in a 40g? I've been eyeing a white banded that I would love to house with my yellow banded possum wrasse. Thanks in advance for any input!

Hi guys! I know that at times it can be difficult to know whether or not a fish is right for your tank. There are lots of things to consider when purchasing a new addition to your reef community: What size is the tank? What other fish are already in there? What inverts are in there? Is it a reef or fowlr? What about food availability? Is it a sensitive fish that needs special care requirements? Does it require particular water parameters? Is it aggressive? Is it a picky eater? Is it prone to disease?

These are all possible concerns that can come up in purchasing a new fish. REEF2REEF is here to help! Whether you're new to the hobby, or just unsure about a new addition, we'll be glad to help with advice and giving info about our new pet that will help it live many years in your tank. Of course, the tank is yours and so is the fish, so no one here will tell you what you can or CANNOT do with your own tank. We're just here to help by sharing our own knowledge and experience.

So let's get this thread going! If you're thinking about a new purchase and just not sure, post it up!
Hi guys. I'm brand new to saltwater and currently have a 15 gallon tank with about 10 pounds of live rock. It already has a neon blue cleaner goby and a turbo snail and was wondering if I could add these two other things.

-Ocellaris Pair
-Red Firefish

Any advice is appreciated!

You could if you'd like! This will be a higher bioload for this tank, so make sure you stay on top of warerchanges. An oversized skimmer will also help.

Add the clowns last, as they'll be your most aggressive fish.

Hi all.

I'm looking for one final fish to put in my marine reef aquarium before I start going hog wild on the corals/anemones/etc.

My tank is the 32.5g fluval saltwater starter set.

My tank is now a month old, with copepods, the plankton, and 20 variety of macroalgae from MosaicMacros.

For fish i have two clownfish, one snowflake the other fancy. They're happy cause the male is doing his vibration dance.

I recently added two Conches, a lawnmower Blennie and Ruby Dragonet.

The dragonet is hiding, the blenny is rock hopping and attacking my algae and the conches haven't moved much but they're sniffing around.

I believe I can safely add one or two more fish into the mix. Following the inch rule, I've used up 14 of my 24 fish inches.

Does anyone have any recommendations that would be compatible and comfortable in a 32.5 gallon?

I like the oddball but also those with personality like the Blennie.

Thank you!

Ps.

I was told there's real no limit to crustaceans or other non-fish, is this true?

I love royal grammas. They are purple and yellow, and peaceful. Mines out in the open alot. He also will swim upside down which is really fun to watch.

Hi!

120g tank
2 percular clowns
1 territorial lawnmower blenny
1 coral beauty
No corals or snails or crabs atm.

Been going for about 2 months now and ammonia, nitrite, nitrate all holding steady.
Fair amount of film algae, no hair, odd bit of bubble.

Thinking about next fish:
Foxface rabbitfish
Bristletooth tang
Zebra dartfish (3-5)
Anthias (3-5)

What would you recommend? Can afford tang and foxface, or dartfish, or anthias.

Hello, I’m new to saltwater aquariums so I wanted to know if I could have a snowflake eel, dwarf lionfish and either a blue lined grouper or a miniatus grouper in my 135 gallon

Maybe. If they’re different sexes, they should get along. But if they’re not, and especially since you already have one that’s established, it might not work out. I think it’s safest to stick with just one. However, if you do decide to add a second, keep a close eye on the tank and be prepared to remove one if there are any signs of aggression.
