My tank as been set up for a couple months now and have hit the ugly stage. I have brown diatoms in my sand but was wondering what is on my glass and rock. I am hoping it is also diatoms but it looks a little different (stringy). Can diatoms look like this?

Looks like a combination of bryopsis and dicyota algae. Reduce white light intensity or turn off white lights as remove manually by hand. Cleaners such as limpets, emerald crabs and large turbo snails May help with removal
