Okay all, I need help determining what I have going on here. I’ve asked around and most are stumped or guessing.

I am wondering if it’s chrysophytes. My system is newly setup.. almost 3 months. No corals. 5 fish. I’ve been struggling with low nutrients so I’ve been over feeding the last week

nitates almost undetectable and po4 is 0..

I pulled some of them off the rock and included pics. Advice on what this is and how to get rid of it!!

green hair algae
I honestly have had GHA so many times. This is so different than that. It’s long, like 20 inches long. And it’s like long strands of blonde human hair. I mean I guess it could be but I have no No3 or Po4, so I’m stumped? I thought it might be Dino’s. Maybe I’ll order a microscope to view it.

Hair algae and bryopsis. Bryopsis is a little bit of challenfge to eliminate and you MUST get rid of the roots to eliminate it completely. Ripping out by hand will not stop it but does reduce growth.

Some reasons you get these algaes are :
High white light intensity
Tank at or near a window
Phosphates elevated
Using Tap water from Faucet instead of RODI water

After removal, add some snails such as :
Turbo grazer
astrea
Nerite
Cerith
Trochus

These will help maintain control

So weird I’ve had bryopsis before and it was nothing like this. I run whites at 7%, tanks is not next to a window, I have o.o po4 and I use rodi that is tested and at 0 TDS. I’m at a complete loss here. I don’t think my pics are showing the detail. But it could be bryopsis. Could be anything really but I thought for sure some type of dinoflagellates because my nutrients are bottomed out and have been for weeks.

Many forms of bryopsis. Does not have to be thick blade or fern-like

Did you ever figure out what this was or how to get rid of it. I have the same thing in my coral QT and I'm afraid to move my corals over to my DT.
