Why no filter socks? I have run them for years and never had problems, I would be interested to know why you don't want to.
A possible replacement could be a filter roller, but I have no experience with them so I cannot comment.

I’ve heard using media cups filled with filter floss (I am debating). I grow tired cleaning or replacing socks; but you (I) can seriously tell they work. There is no denial you can visually see them doing their jobs.

Seems like they have to be changed out every other day. But I am new to all of this and was just wondering about different options more so than anything
Yes, by day 4 mine are dirty as heck. I should do every other day to keep cleaner, but twice a week is best my lazy butt can do.

I have always used filter socks and have been pretty happy with their effectiveness. I use 2 14" socks in my 125 and change them out every 3 days. If it goes to 4 days, I don't sweat it too much. I keep quite a few socks on hand, so I'm only washing them about once a month. To be honest, if I let them go for a week, they would probably be overflowing and doing no good.

BRS did a couple of really good videos on this topic. Might want to check them out.
