I purchased Cheatomorphia from an on-line provider that came in riddled with some pests. I reached out to the vendor immediately on May 22nd for identification, thoughts & advice. Sent pictures and videos, made multiple calls and have gone 12 days without an answer.

What are they? Medusa Worms? Toxic?

There are a few Aiptasia as well but 20-30 of these other worm like guys?

throw that out.... or clean off a few strands and toss the rest. it will grow fast even from a few clean strands. always best to find a local reefer for macros.

Id love to know where you bought that from. Its one thing to make a mistake and send a subpar product, but it's a whole other story when they can't return a phone call or email.

That's crap, and not an accident. I would throw it out, and put the name of vendor on here as a warning. I would also hit up EBAY if that's where you got it from, give a bad review with pics. That is a fly by night company selling junk. They will probably just change their name etc, but you can at least call them on it.

Thanks for replies!

Can I get confirmation from anybody on what they are? I've never actually seen a medusa worm (maybe until now).

I threw it all away after spotting the mob of the them. Wasn't sure if there would be eggs m/ larvea on things that looked clean. The provider could not confirm or deny what they were on the phone after 12 Days!

My first email:
"I purchased some Cheatomorpha with a bunch of other things for my 125 Gal refugium for my 750 Gallon tank.

Maybe it’s my mistake that it would be fairly clean being Aqua cultured. There are 20-30 sizeable Medusa worms & several Aiptasia.

I’m more concerned with the worms being Toxic.

Very disappointed that these would slip by your folks.

Thoughts?

Recommendations?"

----------
Multiple calls, emails
----------

Finally a call back last night on another issue with undersized fish. I inquired again about these?

Response Snipets:
- "It wasn't clear by your email that you wanted a response"
- Me, Are these Medusa worms? If they were wouldn't that cause you major concern that you were shipping these to you customers if they are toxic?
- We will have to check with our provider(another well know brand) who aqua cultures these in the wild!

Maybe these are harmless and maybe Im over reacting?

Mystified why there wouldn't be a very focused response and apology is they were toxic ?

Frustrated!

I'm no expert but to me those don't look like Medusa Worms, more like Peanut worms.

More and more feedback that I'm seeing indicate that none of this clean Chaeto being sold is actually clean or free of pests. But your going to have the same issue getting it from hobbyists so I think it is what it is.
