Ok so I am just now getting back into hobby after 10 year hiatus. I have a 75 gallon that I may have been a bit overzealous stocking... looking to upgrade a “bit”. I am thinking 400g plus built in. Not even sure where to start... was hoping some other monster tank owners could help guide me.

I’m looking at 7-8 ft long... depth and height not yet determined. Concrete slab foundation under tank so “hopefully” no modification needed? Water and electric are already piped into the wall I’m considering.

Where do I go from here? I have attached pics of where I want it... and what I kinda hope what it will look like.

Don’t mind the lizard lol she’s just helping with the planning phase. Lol

I'm currently working on a 485g display (650g total) non peninsula build.

My planning of size of the tank was dictated by the wall space, door opening to get the tank in (1 dimension had to fit) height of the stand plus tank that was comfortable for me to work in and view)

I decided on a 120inx40x26in custom acrylic tank with a 34in tall steel stand. The smallest door I had to get through was 35in.

I would recommend to decide what fit into your space and be able to get it there and decide glass or acrylic. If you have a fish room behind the wall then you don't need to be as fastidious with the stand to fit your equipment in.

After deciding on tanks, I then researched a sump and decided on a Royal Exclusiv fleece Dreambox. I did this to customize my drain size to match my tank drains.

Write out your wants and plans and build in redundancy. Plan your equipment list as accumulating things can take a while.

I would say after you finalized your tank size, buy your rock and cycle it even before you have the tank. See wwc+brs hybrid method

If so how wide is the opening? I wasn’t sure by the Pinterest pic if that was the idea you were shooting for.

The above example is 12ftx4ftx31inches and uses 12 Ecotech G4 Pro with T5 as a supplement and they have them mounted higher for more even distribution. This is set up for an SPS dominant tank. Things to consider is what your end goal is, SPS vs Mixed vs Softies and your budget as the lights can add up. With a wide tank, after considering lighting is your internal flow to cover that width and depth. The lights may struggle to get to the very bottom of a 48in tall tank but I'm not sure.

I am thinking a single tank coming off the left wall in the pic. I’m thinking 6ft-8ft on the length. I could go as wide as 4 ft. Thinking 4ft depth... not sure if that would be too deep to light for a reef?
my tank is a 125 gallon Peninsula tank.

Well after doing some measuring... decided on approx 320 gallon. 72x36x30. Next step is finding a manufacturer. Anyone have any suggestions to get quotes from?

I am pretty happy with my custom aquariums glass peninsula. They have an online configurator that allows you to plan your design and fuss over the options thoroughly so you won't be rushed at any point - and helpful people to talk to.
