Alright a couple days ago I came across a 100g sca aquarium for sale on one of the local groups for what I thought was a fair price ($350), needless to say I scooped it up and here we are again on another build. I originally was planning to set up a 150 later this year but the need for a bigger aquarium had gotten the best of me. The plan for this is to get it set up and running cheepishly and slowly upgrade things from there.

I am upgrading from a Octo t60 32g cube with a Red Sea LED90 pictured below
B476FFCC-F150-442A-8110-8E8A303BC05D.jpeg

The only equipment that will be carried over is going to be the Reef Octopus 150int skimmer everything else will be new

Now onto the new setup
Tank: (used) SCA 100 with internal overflow 48”x24”x20”
Sump: Aqueon 40b with Fiji Cube baffle kit
Lighting: 3 Noopsyche k7 pro II’s ( a possible 4th depending on what par levels end up being)
Return pump: Jebao MDC10000 WiFi
Flow: 2 Jebao SCP-120M’s (WiFi)
Skimmer: Reef Octopus 150int
Filtration: Clarissa SK5000
The stand and canopy will be constructed by myself.
All the plumbing pieces will be replaced with new.
Along with the new equipment i ordered 60lbs of special grade live sand and 70lbs of Marco rock that I will try and make some type of NSA scape out of.
Live stock will be most likely as follows but subject to change as I can never decide on what I want

As of right now 3/4/21 everything has been ordered and should arrive by 3/16/21
also here is a shot of the new aquarium after I brought it into the house

I will try to keep this build updated as I make progress (hopefully rather quickly)

Congrats on the new tank!

I too feel the urge to upgrade!

One observation - those are three large Tangs for a 100g display. Are you planning at some point int he future to move them to an even bigger tank as they grow? Certainly won't be a problem for the immediate future but at some point they may feel a little cramped.

Just a thought.

Love the idea of an NSA scape out of Marco rock ... just wish I had the patience and the skills to pull it off!

Well progress was made tonight started getting the stand together. It was coming along nicely until the batteries in the drill and impact driver died so looks looks like tomorrow I will finish the framing for the tank stand and get the canopy frame finished. Ended up a hair over 36” tall due to leveling everything.
