I wasn't interested in controllers before, but this may change my mind. For 150 bucks you get only 4 plugs, but the fact that it's controllable (Hopefully by iPhone as oppose to just viewable) and is internet ready makes me want it. It's interesting as it has no display.. you hook up to it to program it (I can live with that is what made the price 150 bucks!

More details on the Neptune Systems Apex Jr

Sweet, thats awesome. I'm a big fan of the Apex, so its nice to see them put out a lower budget model for people. Who's gonna review one first on R2R? haha

Man if I hadn't recently set up my electronics closet in my reef nook I would probably have gone for it.

Nice. I was one of the first people to get the Apex Lite when they released it, and I've been in love with it ever since. :)

Yeah, that new Neptune JR controller does look pretty sweet. I just bought the Aquatroller Jr about 3 months ago, and I'm semisatisfied with it, so now I'm kinda bummed that this killer new upgrade is here. I suppose I should have waited...

That looks great. From what I'm reading, you should be able to control it over the internet, not just view. Now there is no real reason for someone to run an aquarium without a controller!

If it doesn't have a display, it'll have to be done via browser, which is great, cause thats about the only way I control my Apex Lite now :)

The one thing I hate about the Neptune stuff is the cables.

Why didn't they use Phone cables like other controllers do

They do use phone cables for the connections between the unit and the power bars. That is true for the Apex and AquaJr at least.

Or with your iPhone or Android, which is how I tend to control mine!

Yes, the Apex line started using USB-like cables (not standard USB cables though) to connect AquaBus modules. The advantage is, you can connect up to 240 modules by connecting them to one another, not like before where you connect them in series (e.g. Direct Connect modules). Some modules have multiple AquaBus ports built-in.

I will admit that one thing really turns me off to them.
I like to be able to make my own cables up to keep things neat.

I even looked for crimpable USB ends.
