Take apart and clean. Mine stop maybe once a month. There finicky about cleaning. easy to clean though. A tooth brush, q-tip and a few minutes will do it. No need to remove from the tank just unplug the plug from the controller, pull it off the magnet and clean it with tank water. I soak mine for 30 minutes in citric acid about ever other cleaning. Vinegar and water will do also. Be careful about spilling either into the tank. I use a specimen container that hangs on the lip of the tank outside. To soak them in.
I didn’t see the part about no light on at all until now. I do know that both of mine don’t work well in random mode. They stopped working aNd when I changed to pulse no problems. I keep mine on a 30 second pulse. Are you using random?
