Those look nice and should sell out pretty quickly I'd wager.

Another most excellent batch. Have a great weekend!

This may sound like a dumb question but how do these clams grow and do they close up at all?

It may be a photo image vs. real visual but it seems like they are wide or their opening is wider than other clams with the mantles. Not sure what the right word to use is but they seem wider both up top and at the base or bottom. I'm pretty ignorant on clams so trying to understand how these grow. Off to go read!

@hart24601 let us know how it looks in your tank once you get it situated!

Edit: Search returned a good article from 2010 by James W. Fatherree. I think I understand now. Learned something new today.

Hippopus clams do not have the mantle extend beyond the shell rim like Maximas and other Tridacna clams. I think hart24601 posted a pic of another Hippopus he got from us in a previous thread here. Plus, I think he needs to buy #1 to add to his collection, totally different from his others :D

Are these safer with angels? I don’t see any flesh beyond the mantle to nip...

Maybe if they made me a great combo deal, haha.

Do they also run away when you try to take their pictures?
Even the pics on the site look like someone smeared Vaseline on the lens. Why is that?

Yes, they definitely scurry, shy about getting their pic taken

Sorry if my pics disturb you, shot on my phone in our greenhouse, lots of flow.

Just trying to add a little humor to the question. Used to higher quality images on your website, so I wondered if there was a reason behind it. Lots of flow would do it. Thanks :)

No problem, I just shot them quickly. I need to do some better ones with the camera later.
