So I’m getting ready to move to a new house and decided that my last system would have been a pain in the… to move. So I sold my Reef Savvy 187 60x30x24. Actually this was a good thing as I’ve been struggling with the system for a bit. Went full triton method a few years ago. It was great for a bit and then it was a calamity.. But I sold the tank within 48 hrs of putting it on sale. The guy is happy as he got a great deal , and I’m not breaking my back moving that thing.

I had my heart set on a peninsula system for the new house. But I just couldn’t find the right system for what I wanted to spend. I really didn’t want to go custom again, and it was starting to feel that was the only way to go mainly because no one really does a deep dimension anymore.

in between working on the new house and fixing my old house, I kinda camped out in TSA’s new aquarium room staring at the custom 230g and the custom 128 they have. Feeling a bit like Goldie Locks, one just a foot to big, the other a foot to small.. So during one of many discussions, Alex and I both brought up the newer IM Nuvo EXT 150. I had seen it online, they had just installed one and had been extremely impressed by the build quality. So I put my deposit down and the wait begins.

I plan on doing something very simple. My last system was very tech heavy and as things break and die or don’t work coming out of the box, I’ve had enough of. So here is my list, but there are a few variables I’m not sure on yet..

Tank: Nuvo EXT 150 Lagoon in 48x36x20 with the White stand.
Sump: not sure yet, I was looking hard at the Geo’s Reef Pro R but I may just go for something simple and half the price. Return will either be an Ecotech M1 or L1 as I have both brand new sitting on a shelf ( back ups for old system.

Flow: undecided

Lighting: I was toying with going back to Halides but I’m not sure I want to fit the heat issues. Here in Fl you can get away with no heater, but I really don’t want to purchase a chiller either. So I’ve decided to go Kessil A360X. Two or three should be fine.

I have a 10 gallon Nuvo, 20 gallon Nuvo, 50 gallon ext, and 200 ext peninsula. Very nice tanks. Your 150 ext--LAGOON--probably has the best dimensions innovative marine offers--48 x 36 x 20! Aquascaping will be a dream...

Sweet tank, nice choice, can't wait to see pics.

Best bang for the buck sump?: https://www.fijicube.com/collection...sump-2nd-gen-fiji-cube?variant=13519812296773

Flow? Just get a herd of MP 40's and mount them on the back facing out. Done.

Kessils will be super clean awesome.

My stand arrived yesterday, tank is delivered in about a week.
Since I’m not using the included shelf in the stand, I’m using it to mock up my aquascape. What do you think?

Tank has been in place for a week now, just picked up my sump today, IceCap 36XL. I got a can't pass up deal on it new. Also I like that it has an integrated ATO compartment so one less thing to try and fit underneath. The sump definitely fills the stand with about 4" on either side and 8" to the doors. Coming from wooden stands I didn't think about the aluminum thickness and loss about 4" more than I was guesstimating.

I think I'll be running 2 Ecotech M2 pumps for returns and to feed UV and any reactors. Again, coming from wooden stands my whole hobby life, I am a little perplexed on mounting options inside the stand. On one side of the system, the tank and stand butt up to a hand rail that seperates the dining and living room. So the side door is inaccessible. Im thinking of making a wood mounting plate for all of the controllers. What have others done with aluminum based stands? And this leads to my next question with mounting lights. Im looking at using Kessil A360X Tuna Blues (3 I think will cover enough) Im a bit stuck on how to mount the lights over the tank as the Kessil mounts don't work with a Eurobraced Tank and I don't feel the Ecotech RMS system is tall enough with the RMS Stand mounts. I miss the metal halide sparkle and feel like very other LED unit mimics a T5 look most of all. Any suggestions would be great to hear as well.

you could try a piece of flat aluminum stock from the hardware store, drill holes to mount the lights, and then hang the bar from the ceiling. You can paint the aluminum to make it look better. Might not be aesthetically pleasing enough though.

So I think this project is going to slow down a bit more. I’m going to reach out to Adaptive Reef for an insert for inside my stand. I have seen my free time just disappear every time I have some, so a DIY option my slow this even more.
I would like the inserts to hold all pump controls, UV and what ever monitoring system I decide to use. I would like it to be along the back wall ( behind the sump) and accommodate all of the plumbing.
Secondly, as my system is sitting on carpet, I’ve been looking at preventing as much damage as possible from future sump overflows. There will inevitably be at least one, I’m not fooling myself. So I plan on coating the bottom of the stand with waterproof Flashing Tape(used for roofing). Also a condenser drip pan with drip mats will be installed.

Tank is wet and starting to cycle. Been messing with the scape for months now. I’m pretty happy on how it turned out.
Still have to figure out lighting, skimmer and equipment management in the stand. But at least got the cycle started…

Nice scape but any concern with height of the left rock? Doesn't leave much room for mounting corals. I have the IM 200 int peninsula on order and already got radions and the RMS mount.

The high point is a couple inches underwater. I was nervous too. I can always do something short there like zoas or something encrusting,,,
