Figured I would start this build thread now for my new tank since I have some live rock coming this week (waiting list) and will be starting things up soon. My equipment list is as follows:

IM 50 gallon lagoon AIO with black APS stand
Mighty Jet return pump (stock)
Heating: IM Helio PTC smart heating system 200 watt (100 watt x 2)
ATO: Tunze 3155 osmolator with IM hydrofill 5 gallon reservoir
Lighting: Ecotech Marine Radion XR30 PRO Gen 6 with RMS mounting
Powerhead: Ecotech Marine MP10
Filtration upgrade: 2 Intank media baskets to replace filter sock on one end and stock media basket on other. Plan on taking out middle shelf on one of the Intank baskets to start small refugium at some point.

40 lbs Fiji Pink Live sand
60 lbs KP aquatics premium live rock (30 pounds coming this week)

Equipment still needed:

Tunze eco chic 8831 refugium LED (back order)
IceCap K1 nano protein skimmer

I joked the middle photo looks like I’m opening the ark of the covenant from Raiders of the Lost Ark! :winking-face-with-tongue:

Let me know how you like the tank. Considering getting a 14 gallon AIO from them for my office desk and eventually a 80 gallon AIO for my living room in the future.

Appreciate it.

How did delivery work? Did they just drop it off or did you have to sign for it? If you did sign for it, did they wait until you opened and inspected it?
Both. The delivery guy was nice enough to drop it in front of the door. I opened up the top just to take a quick look at the glass to make sure nothing was broken and then signed. Make sure to have a screwdriver and hammer to open the crate and box cutter for the aquarium box.

Just got 30 lbs. premium live rock today from KP Aquatics. Great stuff, BTW. The coraline algae cover is awesome. Macroalgae present, too. Baby shrimp, brittle stars, already go rid of some bristle worms. No dead smell at all, but I’m still going to cure at least a few days, do water changes every day, then test this weekend and see where I’m at.

One of my hitchhiker crabs saying hello. My wife named him Monster Man. He has algae growing on his shell. She’s more fascinated with the crabs than the fish. Lol!

How do you like the XR30? Would you do something different?
It’s a really nice light. I’ve heard horror stories about the Mobius app, but it‘s been fine for me. I just use the preloaded templates for my lighting periods. I suppose if you were tweaking and editing a lot, it might get tricky to use. The light itself is pretty powerful, as well as the spread. It‘s plenty enough to keep any type of coral, though I haven’t tried SPS.

Has the MP10 given you any trouble? The 10mm glass is just above spec for them.

Hey there! Nice to see a fellow local reefer. It’s been great. I’m happy with the tank. It‘s been up since August and I have 2 pajama cardinals, 2 clowns, a Midas blenny, and probably going to add my last fish—a royal gramma here soon. I got my my first coral last month—a green mushroom colony that’s doing well. I’ve considered a refugium and a skimmer, but haven’t needed either so far as my nitrates are stable and haven‘t had an algae problem. I have 55 lbs of live rock that I got from KP Aquatics that looks really nice under a Radion XR 30 Pro G6. The new light has nice spread and I think one is plenty for whatever you want to do. I do recommend upgrading the media basket—I got mine from intank aquatics. You can use it for a refugium if you wanted, too. Just pair it with the tunze ecochic refugium light. Hope this helps. Let me know how it’s going. Brian
