Just got the new Nano Aches from Caribsea. Wish they would have been available when I started. They are very cool. Really easy to make all different layouts.
But here is my question I want to replace a majority of my current rock with these. What will it do to the tank? And what about the micro stars and other things that might be in them? Anyway to try to get them out?
Supposedly they have bacteria on them. I’ve used one other Caribsea rock with no problem.

Two ideas:

1. Replace the old rock 1 or 2 pieces at a time let them mature in the system for a month. Repeat.
2. Cycle the rock in the sump or another container for several weeks then rescape the tank.

If you have a sump, put the "old" rock in there and move forward. If no sump, I'd proceed with a lot more caution. Swap out a piece or 2 with ample time between each swap. Think 2 weeks or more, until you have the rock all changed.

Thank you for the replies.. should have said I have a 30 gal long AIO. So no sump. But I have a big bucket, could add heater & pump with the new rock & a couple of the rock from the tank.

Fill the bucket with some water change water toss a heater and a pump let it marinate for a month. Should be good to go!

How long has your tank been set up? That may determine how long switching out this new rock may take without drastically effecting your tank balance.

I would fill up a bucket with water, heater, a pump, a piece of rock from your current tank and all the new rock. After a month or two, possibly longer, switch out sone of the newer rocks in the bucket with an older rock in the tank. Place that older rock in the bucket with a newer rock. Continue that process until all rocks are switched. This process may take a while.

As others have said nothing good really happens fast in this hobby.

ive had saltwater tank for at least 5 years but this tank will be a year in May. Most of the rock is newer though, I had some Walt Smith to start with along with LR from LFS. Got rid of the Walt Smith altogether.

While they don't have to be cured, the bacteria did absolutely nothing for my setup which just finished cycling a couple of weeks ago. Took the same amount of time to cycle as any other tank I have set up and all I used was the Caribsea life rock.
