I don’t know if y’all can see it but in the last pic under the frame there is a blotch of white. I’m thinking that is the dust from drilling the glass that managed to work itself under the frame. Is this ok? And how would I get this out? I’m kinda wondering now if top frame could be removed and tank left frameless. But leave the bottom one still.

Nice work! That looks like drilling dust that got washed under there to me. Flush out what you can with water and don't worry about it IMO.

Yeah I didn’t notice it until I blacked out glass. Then it really stood out. I just don’t want it to be noticeable when looking at tank.

Haven’t had time to work on stand or tank much but did get some more stuff in. I’ll be off tomorrow and can hopefully make some head way.

I bought some of the stax rock after looking at some aqua scape done with them thinking I could create a couple cool looking pieces... nope looked like Jenga or something haha. Not that creative I guess. I’ll have to think more on how to use them.

Got a little more work done, stand is painted, top stain is done and got it moved in to its spot. Here’s a few pics of just stand with the tank, the shelves are just a couple cheap ikea units we set up there to get an idea of the look.

Thanks a lot I’m getting a little impatient, I work so many hrs it’s hard to get stuff like this done. My wife was even asking “so when are you actually going to set it up?”

So the center will obviously be where sump and equipment will go, to the right is where the top off will be with controller and all misc. above that. To the left is pretty much just storage.

Question for you apex users. If my router is upstairs am I going to continually have connectivity issues with this controller? Been going back and forth between GHL/Apex. I don’t want to have to run a cable from my upstairs all the way to my tank.

Well went ahead and ordered the apex with the COR 15 pump to get the ball rolling, we’ll see what happens as far as the connection goes may have to get someone out to run a hardline over to the tank. Although that seems unnecessary this day in time.

I’ll be off next weekend so I’ll be able to start plumbing hook up controller, doser, all that fun stuff. Until then I’ll be working on what to do for book shelves and the hanging of the light. Any suggestions on hanging light or tips. I would like for it to look clean but easy adjust for maintenance/cleaning, adding coral! You know that kinda stuff.

Ok so my wife wanted me to build bookshelves, but I just don’t have time to get it done so I ordered some off amazon that will be customized to fit the cabinet. Possibly I’ll just build center section and do some crown molding.

This will save me lots of time as I’m sure having never used a controller I will be spending extra time trying to set it up correctly. Also I bought a Jebao doser I don’t know much about them but the price was awesome. I’ve only ever run kalk with my top off or dosed by hand, this will be 1st tank set up to auto dose.

On that note I’ve been looking at the aquforest 1,2,3. Anyone using this? Or should I just stick with the BRS additives?

Been thinking of stocking list as far as fish go. Here’s what I have so far.

Black fin McCoskers flasher wrasse
Trio lyre tail anthias
Red stripe angel
Trio Kauderns cardinals from another tank
Gold bar maroon clown from other tank
Tang- kole/purple tang/Caribbean blue tang? One of those three.
And that will be about it maybe a leopard wrasse later on or something similar. What do y’all think as far as the tangs go?

Got my aquatic life t-5 / led fixture put together. Pretty simple don’t have the hydra 26 mounted on there yet it’s currently on another tank.

Would laying heater on the bottom of sump be ok? Or would it possibly melt the acrylic?
