Hello all, first post here i think.
Long time reefer, french speaker...
Trying to put my old tank on track again.
After 1 years without water change.
Anyway, that's not the question

I just instal a brand new spectrapure 90gpd membrane, and set my ratio to 4:1.

Calibrate my HM tds pen whit pinpoint 45us liquid (28.8ppm that i read online)

And put a new DI resine.

My setup:
45-55psi
Well water 300ppm.
1 micron carthridge
0.5 micron
Carbon block
Carbon block
Spectrapure 90gpd
1 DI resine

After the RO i got 6ppm (2gallons made for now, maybe it have to break off)

Question Here:
When i first stat the DI membrane...
Water was blury and sligthly tint orange and the tds start at 800!
And steady drop for the first 3min...
Its been 1hour now and its stock to 11ppm...
Witch is higher, almost double, the RO Water...

I dont remember that we have to rinse di resin??
No sens for me.
What do you think ?

Thank.
(Sorry for the long post )

You should be able to use RO resin after the first five gallons or so.

Something obviously isn’t right. I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful. Hopefully someone else will come along to help.

After doing some research there are two things you can check.

The first thing is make sure the DI canister is sealed tight. Very tight. Make sure the gasket is in there too.

The second thing is make sure the DI canister tubes are in the right place. Meaning make sure the water is going in the inlet side and coming out the outlet. If the water is going the wrong way it will give you high readings.

Thank for your help.
Everything is install since 10 years and was working find.
I just unplug to change RO and replug.
The tubing lenght and curve could not be missplace etc...
The RO drop in from the side of the canister and go out in the center.
The gasket is there etc...
I first notice that de DI seem brownish at first.
Here the picture, what your impression ?

I would do sediment then 5 micron, then 1 micron so you dont burn up filters as fast. Make sure you run a flush valve before your DI when starting up so you dont burn resin early also..

Yep!
I flush the membranne and then the RO until i get a low tds. ;)

So for the record, nothing to say, we don't know why the resin was that bad.
I get refund.

And my new 90gpd spectrapure plus still give me 6-7ppm after the RO (20g made whit it) i hope it get a little better... but im starting at 300ish tds so...
Thank all
