Also felt as though I was going through Di resin pretty quick. Contacted spectrapure and came to the conclusion maybe my co2 is high. Purchased a test kit and yup she is up there. Looks as though I’m at 61ppm and should be below 10ppm. A couple options, first is purchasing a media and running that before the Di. Issue is it’s pricey and don’t know how long it will last. Second is build a degassing chamber to run prior to Di which may be the option I go with. Going to to a bit more research on that.

You’re welcome! Nice collection of Tangs you have!

I have been super lucky and they seem to get along pretty well. Now I will be figuring out the smaller fish I want to add and get them started in the qt.

So I had a bought with hair algae and used vibrant with a ton of snails/ crabs to work at it. I have to say vibrant helped tremendously to get it down to almost gone. I’m now going to let the clean up crew finish it off. I’m now getting the water parameters all stable then adding back in coral. I did lose most all my sps but don’t feel the vibrant was to blame. I think the imbalance with nutrients and trace took a tole on them.

I also changed out my sump to incorporate a fuge as to also help keep the hair gone in the display. This sump will only be temporary until I get the acrylic cut and can build the permanent one.

first pic is of the tank with hair algae at its worst, last pic is this past Tuesday. Also got the display screen mounted on the apex wall.

mom another note my fish are looking amazing. Zero sign of any disease or parasites. I am now a true believer inthe qt process.

So I finally was able to join the club, purchased my first RE product and it is a beauty! It was purchased second hand, was previuolsyDouble cone 250 with rd3 mini speedy pump. Any tips or tricks with this guy? So far everything seems to be good, produces a good head.

I do have one question, the ozon line when not in use, should it be caped, open to the air, or open to water?

-I will have my other skimmers for sale if anyone is interested, first is swc 230 with the askull 1500 pump, this this is a beast of a skimmer and have had zero issues with it. Produces a solid foam head and pulls some nasty skimate.
-The second one is the old glory Hurricone Cat1, it does need a new pump as the original died just before I broke the tank down and we moved. This skimmer was the best skimmer I have ever owned and was planning on replacing the pump and getting it back into service.

Also I have finally been able to completely eradicate the hair algae and got a few tester sticks from tsa. They have been in the tank for about 2 weeks and all look amazing so I think I’m ready to start adding to the collection.

I believe what ever imbalance I had that caused the hair also caused the sps to die off. So far everything is doing great again and can’t wait to get this filled up!!

Also decided I’m going to try a chiller to see if it helps with electric bill as right not the central a/c is what is regulating the temp. While setting up the chiller I’m also going to plumb in the frag tank and get it flowing again. As I get these things done I’ll post up pics.

I'm starting to get into SPS as well, which sticks did you get as testers from TSA?

I got red planet, pink lemonade, Paletta pink, and bonsai. All pretty hardy and I though good “testers”. Sorry the pics are not the best, just cell phone pics.

So it’s been a while since an update so I figured I would show some progression. I have had a few battles in the past 8 months one being hair algae. Tried it all and ended up using vibrant which killed off all the algae but also caused a lot of coral death. Lost a bunch of sps and euphyllia from that. Aptasia was another issue that took over, ended up getting 15 or 20 berghia nudibranch and they destroyed it all. Then when I thought I was all clear Dinos hit. Ended up having to do a black out with dosing H202. In the process of that I lost more coral and fuge crashed. Now I have been going well for a month and a half or so and I’m going to be replacing the coral I lost. Pics are of the hair algae, Dinos, and progression of a jkr rainbow frag that survived and has been steady growing. Smallest pic of it was February, then September, and finally November.

fish are growing well and super healthy! Orange shoulder is starting to change color over to the grey. I have a small list of a few more fish I want, mostly wrasses.

On another note acrylic was picked up.....not cut! A year and a half later still not cut I found someone else to cut it. Hope this week to have it done and build the sump.

Ok so to say I’m excited is an understatement. The acrylic for my sump and ato have finally been cut!! I picked it up today and everything looks great. I hope to start building it this evening or at least getting it all laid out. It will be clear white and blue, same as the rest of my color scheme. Once this is all done the setup will be complete. I can get the frag tank back plumbed in and all the cords cleaned up. The sump size is 47x18x16 tall. Ato is to match right up next to it at 10x18x16 tall. It’s been a long time coming and glad it’s finally here!

Started building the ato and it’s looking good. The front panel I’m having etched with the gallons in the tank (see pic). These are true gallons as I took measurements of inside and did the math for actual water volume in it. It’s just a hair over 10 gallons inside dimensions. Other thank that and drilling a couple holes for 1/4” lock line bulk heads, it’s done!

hope to get started on the sump tomorrow. I was trying to figure out if I should do fuge section before skimmer. I want to eliminate any micro bubbles that may come off the skimmer. Only issue I see if fuge section is first it’s limited to the water height the skimmer requires. Not a huge deal but I like to have fuge section deeper. Any thoughts??
