So I have decided to get this display setup and just put a random tank/ sump in place until my acrylic is cut then swap over. I picked up a 40 gallon tank and going to put in a sock holder and that’s about it. It’s time to get water in here. Im going to use plain pvc as it’s just going to be removed and permanently plumbed with the color matched stuff.

Also picked up some new lights for under the stand. It was just not bright enough with what I had. I ordered 160lbs of Bahama oolite sand and am going to redo my rock scape so it’s complete. Gonna try and get the last few things done and hope to have water by next weekend!

Also I’m going to try and drill another drain hole in my display. I want to run a full syphon and in order to do so I need to have an emergency drain just in case.

Picked up my sand today as well as got the under side of the stand completed with wire chase and changed the backing to be fully enclosed. I also drilled holes in wire chase and through the backing to hide plug wires when plugged into the wall. I’m going to put a couple coats of paint over the entire thing once caulking dries. I like the look much better....there is a before pic in there of what it looked like before.

Ok so stand and hood are all touched up and ready to go. Waiting for the paint to dry then I can start with the wiring. I did decide I want to swap the apex walls...I’ll post pics after it’s done. I wanted the eb832’s, and dos’s to be closer to the display as all the powered items will be over that way. Because of plumbing in the frag tank to the display it won’t have any electrical components on that side.

Well as much I hate this I’m making water and this is the sump for now. I cannot wait any longer to get water flowing. Maybe for Christmas I’ll have a nice stack of cut acrylic to make my sump lol. Should have all my water in before thanksgiving.

Let's see her with her sandy bottom!

I’m on shift tomorrow so Monday when I get home sand and water will be going in!

A sump is a sump, brother. I understand how meticulously you have planned, but what’s up top is what counts.

Ya I hear ya just kills me to have to redo everything later on. Oh well I guess such is life and it doesn’t always go as planned....as much as we try.

Next time my wife yelps at me for spending $80 on new tank heater imma show her your thread!
sweet build!

Hahaha thanks! I do hear it from the boss but remember I did collect majority of my equipment over time, and it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission LoL.
