The KH Guardian is the most recognizable product in the exciting new category of alkalinity controllers and it will now be available in a new monitor version. The just announced KH Guardian Monitor still performs the same testing and reporting of your reef aquarium’s alkalinity but it won’t automatically correct alkalinity and dose buffer solution as […]

Wow, I'm shocked there aren't more comments regarding this announcement. Let's keep in mind that this is the only available Alk monitor on the market. Also not to mention that it has been available for quite some time. I remember being told that this product might have even been available before MACNA where Jim showed his prototype to several manufacturers.

Same here. Apex compatible and the original doser model received primarily positive reviews, yes?

I wonder if it can be integrated with a Profilux. There have to be more early-adopters on R2R for this.

It should be compatible with any controller. It feeds it's readings to the ph probe port. You can then tell the doser to dose a specified amount if the alk is reading low. I would recommend that 2 part be dosed rather than just 1 part like the original KH Guardian.

They are really taking their time, something about the mold for the case being wrong. I was told around 4th of July then it got pushed to mid August.

This is pretty cool news. I've been on the fence about investing in a KH monitor, but have been planning to eventually get one, as the reef techie in me needs a new gadget. :D

Take my money. Stress free vacations! The emerging picture of diurnal swing in alk readings in reef tanks is fascinating. If we use new probes like this to eliminate the diurnal swing of alk, how will the coral growth and color and health respond. Surely there is not a diurnal swing of alk in the ocean.

I bought one a clear acrylic box off amazon to keep mine in so no water splashes on it from the sump.

So far mine is not working correctly. Have calibrated the ph probe 4 times, did the full setup, probe at the correct height, and it always says 11.0 dkh and about 5 ph. Both are way off. Time to call support I guess. :( My actual dkh is 8.5 by Hannah checker and Red Sea test. Ph is 7.8 by apex probe and test kit.

to fix the PH after calibrating stick it in your sump till it read 8.2 or whatever your tank PH is then reinstall it. That is how I fixed my issues. I also have large bottles of Atlas Scientific PH calibration solution so I think I've calibrated mine about 45 times, you know just to be sure.

Mine is reading correctly but I have a hard time clearing errors and my AIM doesnt work.

I actually did that unintentionally just to see if it was reading PH right. When it's in just my tank water it's correct, 7.8. And it's correct when the reservoir fills, but it drops to 5 during the reagent adding part of the test. Then the test finishes with KH > ERR.

Here's the latest log:

I got the KH ERR to go away by setting the "auto" KH to 10.0. But a KH of 11.06 is still far too high than what my tank actually is. Unless both my hannah checker and red sea kits are reading too low.

My AIM module works, but unfortunately I can't find instructions on how to program it to work and calibrate with a 2016 apex. The AIM calibrate isn't even in my system setup so I have no idea what to make of that lol.

Yup, not quite the buttoned up product I hoped for. I feel like I bought someone's science project.

Ok so PH looks like it's working right. It starts out in the test chamber matching my tank PH when the SW is added, but it drops during the test which it should (down to around 4.5ph). But the test still constantly reads 11. So even when my DKH is swinging/changing throughout the day, the monitor is not swinging, still just reads 11 all the time. I have a case open with coralvue, shall see what happens!
