Hi everyone, i am finally in the process of building my planet aquarium crystaline 48". Im upgrading from a 25 gallon nano to a 105 gallon tank, with not a lot of experience or years in reefing under my belt, i am hoping this ride is as fun as im expecting. This is a family project so i will be...
I have found that it is easy to become rushed in life and this hobby. This year I resolve to slow down and take my time. Essentially, to focus on quality over instant gratification. I’m setting up my upgrade from a 45 aio to a RSR 525, so this starts by taking my time on my aquascaping.
I have a k7.....sitting in my junk pile. Who ever designed the channels on this thing is a moron.
They combine the red and green channel- brilliant. Red plus green equals yellow. Just the color i want in my tank. You dont need cool white LEDs and green LEDs because they both provide discrete green.
Next, the royal blue channel is about half the power it has to be. The 450nm royal LEDs are equal to the cool white LEDs which is stupid because nobody runs cool white at 1:1 with royal. Unless you want a brown tank of course.
The result is a light that if you want 300 PAR on anything bigger than a 10gal you have no choice but to use more white and cool blue, and then yellow. Your tank is actinic green with a lot of brown.
I hope Noop gets this figured out with their new lights because functionally they are fine. The color balance though is absurdly off.
Thought we'd lost our Shark Nose Goby, haven't seen it in like a week or more. SonX found it yesterday swimming around with the other inhabitants. Was out again today. Still freaks me out when smaller fish disappear for a while. Our Yellow Coris Wrasse is also a strange one. It seems to be on a...
Well I made the plunge in upgrading from a JBJ 45 AIO to a RSR 525 XL! I just couldn't get past the limitations of the AIO regarding space, equipment layout, etc., so when I was in the process of moving my tank from my bedroom to the basement, I pulled the trigger on trading it in for a credit...
I am quite new so I am hoping to finally get my tank stocked with coral this year, I also want to improve my patience and learn to go slow and make controlled, non impulsive decisions
