These 2 mags arrived today! They came in looking great. One has and orangish-peach foot with peachy tips. The other has a reddish foot with purplish tents and some nice tips. I believe that one has more color to show yet so we will see.

These are truly beautiful specimens!! Currently in observation and will go through treatment. Enjoy! :)

I wouldn't treat unless you see a reason to..those look very good. I messed up a really nice one , once , treating a healthy specimen that showed no signs of trouble..

I treat all new nems whether they look "good" or not. I once did not because they looked "good" and ended up losing several because it wasnt good and infected others.

I guess ive always found it interesting that we treat fish before entering the display but we dont treat anemones. I guess most take for granted that they may not have shipped well and could have an infection.

I also believe that when doing the treatment correctly there should be no problem whether the nem is infected or not. I have used cipro in my display tanks without any ill effect.

My buddy Pete (No longer a reefer) used cipro in his display tanks too, (almost a decade ago) his tanks were overpacked with fish and coral too. I was always too chicken. I don’t remember his dosage use. What dosage do you use?

When I’ve used it in the display tank the dosage was low and will vary on tank volume. I used the guidelines from the thread below to calculate my dosage.
Thread 'Experimenting with in-tank antibiotic treatments for Brown Jelly Disease'

When I treat just the nems in a HT I use a higher dosage. I use @OrionN method for doing this. The dosage for this is 250mg cipro to 10g water.
Thread 'Protocol for using antibiotics to treat infected anemones'

Hope this helps.

Absolutely stunning specimens! The colors are going to be great once they really develop. Those are some big nems too, its cool you were able to get them that large! I've never really been into mags, but I do agree that general QT of invertebrates is far more important than many people think. Anemones and corals can get sick with just as many, if not more, diseases than fish that we are only just now learning about. Pretty soon I'm going to be looking for a particular strain of LTA and this post reminded me to QT it when (or if) I find it.

Yes, i am so thrilled with these! Like giddy thrilled lol :) They are at this moment the coolest thing ive had the privilege to care for.

They are large! Like for real, a bit bigger than i expected but thats okay. I often thought mags were plain too. Then i thought i would try the whole clownfish tank thing and found that Mags are a more natural host to occelaris so i figured if i wanted the best shot at success i would get mags. When i got the first one i instantly fell in love with mags. Something about them is just neat. Especially full of clowns :) I now have 4 and couldnt be happier.....the clowns too!

Glad this was helpful in reminding you. I too never put much thought into this until i started keeping more anemones. It just makes sense to me now.

They are truly a sight to be seen. Such a beautiful creature! :)
Yes! They're one of my favorites, but I think 33g is too small esp if there is already BTA in there. :) One day!

I hope you share more photos soon! I would love to see updates going forward, and experience them vicariously through you lol

Your best bet is to follow me on Instagram. I’m more active there and post most things there.

I do check in here with updates on occasion though.
